another day

Today was a lazy, blah day. We didn’t do much of anything and, in fact, I did a lot more sleeping than I should have.

We got up to go out for our "traditional" father’s day breakfast at our usual breakfast haunt only to find the eatery closed and very much under construction. I had read something online about it being sold… We had loved the atmosphere there and the group of servers knew us so we were quite disheartened to find we wouldn’t get to wish them well. Hopefully the same staff will work on the newly renovated premises.

So we went in search of another breakfast joint – in a bit of desperation, I might add, as it was getting on to 12:30pm at this point – the time at which, even in tourist town, most breakfast buffets start to close up shop. We found a little place and the food was passable. No omelet station and a few other items were missing. But the important one – bacon! LOL – was present in abundance fortunately. But the servers and the atmosphere left much to be desired. We were seated across the aisle from the place where the servers went on their breaks and I constantly felt stared at and ogled while I ate. I normally do not like to eat in public because I find people, especially kids, stare at me due to my size (not that I’m THAT huge… it’s probably mostly just my own paranoia but I have had a kid or two ask me "why I’m big?") and I certainly did not feel comfortable seated there in such a situation. It was also unbearably loud. The servers clustered at the till and shouted at each other… I was just not altogether pleased. Combine all that with the fact that they wouldn’t do anything to the price in lieu of the fact that we are locals (most other restaurants in the region charge a lower rate or give you drinks for free if you’re from the area) and you will not find us eating there again. So there. lol

I do not have much else to say about today. BF played his computer game most of the day. I read my book. We endeavoured at one point to do the remainder of our grocery shopping but the crowds and the rain easily convinced me to delay the completion of that task another day.

Tomorrow evening at 5pm we shall be meeting the crazies and some of the extended crazies at The Mandarin for dinner. The fated event. UGH. I pray that it goes well, that I can hold my tongue. (ONLY TWO MORE MONTHS!!!) I’m not looking forward to it in the slightest but at least BF and I each will get a $20 meal for free. Can’t beat that.

Today I am grateful…

* for a cool, light breeze through the window above my bed which lulls me to sleep and dreams… it’s so pleasant!

* for BF’s sense of humour… and his understanding when I unconsciously blank out every time he starts babbling about his computer game LOL

* that I saw the truck from the Humane Society coming to the area on the road where a kitty had been hit. I’m hoping that means it’s life was saved… surely they wouldn’t hurry if it wasn’t alive… poor thing… breaks my heart

* that tuna was on sale at shoppers for 59c a can today – we eat a lot of tuna but I am NOT paying 99c a can OR MORE for it… that’s ridiculous!

* for engel and our online friendship and conversations ðŸ™‚ we’ve "been around" each other for a long, LONG time it seems hehehe

* ONLY TWO MORE MONTHS!!!!!
