Bearsuit

Crikey, I’ve been away for a while.

First of all, my new “avatar” style pic. Seeing Bint’s pic put me in mind to stick it on here. A couple of months ago I “Simpsonized” a photo of myself wearing my new specs – oh yeah, I now wear specs! I had my eyes tested last October and got a prescription for glasses to wear for when I’m sat staring at the computer, which is pretty much all of the day. I finally went out to the shops, taking Aggie with me for advice, and picked some frames back in June. You can’t say I rush into things. Anyway, I used a photo of me wearing them for the Simpsons site and this is how I came out. Some kind souls thought I looked like David Gedge in his glasses. I thought I was a dead-ringer for Bill Gates. I don’t think I’ve ever posted a photo of myself on here, so this is quite a good approximation of what I look like (when I’m patting an invisible Shetland pony). No doubt you’ll be disappointed to find that I don’t resemble battenberg cake after all.

We did a gig at shortish notice last week, supporting the mighty Bearsuit in Leeds. Very fine it went too, despite us only having one rehearsal beforehand in which to shake off the rust of 4 months worth of inactivity. The very lovely Lisa from Bearsuit danced to some of our tunes too, which was very distracting considering what little she was wearing. Sadly for Bearsuit, only about 15 people were there by the time they came on (the promoter must have taken a large kicking on the wallet) and to add further insult, they were told to stop halfway through their set because it was midnight and the venue was closing! Shambles.

Cycling eh? Glad you asked. Bonkers so far; my weekly average is 96.8 miles so far, which is flippin great considering what a washout June and July were. I doubt I’ll be able to push this up to 100 miles per week, but I should be able to hit my target of 4500 miles for the year.
