Thermal Curtain Failure

With luck, my PC will last until I post this entry.

We have snow. Usually, we only get enough to be pretty and it rarely sticks. This is the best snowfall in years.
4″ here, which is plenty for sledding and snowthings (men, women, things — I like to be creative 🙂

Plus the temperature stayed below 32f so little melting and a lot of refreezing.

I have Presidents day off so that helps too.

The recent good and bad, politically. On the plus side, Obama ignored China and decided to meet with the Dali Lama. Good for him. On the major downer side, he cut funding to NASA in a big way, which is the absolute worst thing he could have done. BAD president; NO intern!

My PC is about 4 years old. On a snowed-in day it decides to go all Spacecamp on me and have thermal curtain failure (i.e. auto-shutdown due to exceeding CPU temp threshold). Probably just needs a good fan cleaning and a reapplication of some thermal paste (which I don’t have), but I’m not driving on ice to get it unless I have to. I can drive on ice without a problem, but I don’t trust those on the road around me.

The new position in the company is proceeding without any major headaches. In a bonus move, the company is restoring the “across the board” salary cuts implemented a year ago.

Dear [All Your Base Oracle], I write to you in at a most troubling time in my life. I humbly plead with you to share your wisdom unto me. This moment of crisis has me wrought with confusion and uncertainty that only the [AYBO] can unravel. Should I paint my living room? I have new furniture and the beige just …ugh. Most Respectfully,
