Some updates

This is my last weekend on call for a month. With three people in the group, I am on for 2 and off for 4. Work became a tad more interesting this past week. The justification used for my hiring was to support a large customer. I have taken on other duties, but the main customer I was hired to support has been sold. I’m still good, at least in the short run. There will be a 1 to 2 year transition period where support and migration functions will be needed, but during that time I had better get something else on my plate. On the bright side, at least I wasn’t one of the slaves employees sold along with the business. I have purchased a couple of study books, and will work toward re-certification in the Cisco arena. I may need it down the road. On the plus side, I can now add F5 load balancer experience to the resume.

The pool is great, though it needs vacuuming, and the water is excellently balanced. If the weather is cooperative, grilling out may be on the agenda for the Sunday afternoon Braves game.

By bike is back from repair. I hadn’t ridden it in so long, the fuel injector system was non-functional. Next good-weather weekend that I’m not on call will see me on a day trip to get up close and personal with some curves in the mountains.

ryn: Thank you. If I hadn’t been gaining/losing the same 5 pounds for 6 months, I wouldn’t be so cranky about it 🙂

Scary to be ‘sold’ sometimes, so at least you dodged that bullet.

Do you have one of those cool vacuums that you put in the pool and it circles around doing all the work for you? They are surprisingly fun to watch and they do a pretty good job. What kind of bike? Pictures are in order!
