Wednesday

Today was a bit hectic.  Spent the morning running uphill to produce documents for a Supreme Court examination going on tomorrow.  I was only given the approved documents at 9am this morning, needed to make 4 x binders with roughly 400 pages in each, each page numbered using a paginator, then hole punched and put into folders, then cover pages, indexes and binder spines for each one.  But, I like a challenge, and of course I got it done.

Ran out of the office at 1pm to get to my exam, which started at 1:45pm.  The exam was a bit tricky, but I think I did okay.

Picked up bread on the way home to go with dinner.

Neighbours are screaming and carrying on, as usual. But you know what?

10 DAYS UNTIL WE MOVE OUT OF THIS CRAP HOLE APARTMENT.

10 fuckin’ days.

I sent my letter of 21 days notice to my landlord today.  Actually, I gave her more like 24 days notice, because I want to hand over the keys on a Saturday.  I worked out the balance of rent payable, and pro rata charges for the extra days.  I was pleased to figure get that final figure calculated, especially now that we are working hard on bolstering the bank account.  I am going to talk to mother on the weekend about the possibility of her loaning me some cash (ugh!).  She will do everything she can to help, and I just feel embarrassed at having to ask her, and terribly guilty for hating on her so much over the past few years.

Ah, well.  Mending bridges, that’s what this is. Life lessons, and stuff.

So I got home and wondered why I was feeling so under the weather and it came to my attention and I haven’t eaten a fucking thing today.  What a twit.  There was no time this morning, then I ran from the office to my exam, so I have had a cup of tea and half a glass of water the entire day.  M is heating dinner, which is pork meatballs (from the German guy) which we will eat in long bread rolls, and some cauliflower bake that was left over from the other night.  Not very exciting, but we are trying to eat up all the food we had hoarded away.

I am in the process of routing my mail to mother’s house.  We will keep the PO box until a month or so before I leave, so I have time to catch stuff like superannuation statements that only come quarterly.

I think that’s all for today.

What’s something positive to end on?  My friend Heslop is the best.  We have been texting lately and I am so happy to have him in my life, even if our friendship is only a shadow of what it once was, it’s still the best friendship I have ever had.

Yessss! 10 days! I’m so glad for you. It’s so easy to forget to eat when you’re busy. At least pork meatballs will fix it! RYN: Thank you for offering. It’s not patronising at all. I’m sure I’ll work something out – if not I’ll be bludging off my mum too!! That’s what mums are for, right? lol

RYN: To answer your question finally, I did spend time in the sun but not a ridiculous amount – I’ve always hated the heat except when I was a little kid. And we were of the generation that wore sunscreen, since in the 80s there was that big “slip slop slap” campaign and all that. But skin cancer just seems to run in my family. Thankfully it’s the benign kind, but it’s still something that needs dealing with. Mum has heaps of bccs because of how much time she spent in the sun, and so do my aunties. Back in their day there was no sunscreen of course, just oil! Ouch. I think we’re better off in our generation because of the emphasis on sunscreen while we were growing up. The skin specialist said that some people (including me, it seems) are so susceptible that a quick walk to the letterbox & back without protection can give them a skin cancer. They just have a certain DNA-driven propensity. Which I seem to have.
