Tuesday

Went to my visa medical this morning.  I had expected it to be a bit of a hassle, but it was more than just a BIT of a hassle, as it turned out.

First I saw a nurse who weighed and measured, and took blood pressure.  Had to go pee in a cup, which is always great.

Then it was in to the doctor who ran through 7 pages of forms with me.  She discussed what vaccinations I would need and then I had to get (almost entirely) nude so she could feel my stomach, test my reflexes, check my eyes and ears, examine my breasts, check my spine for curvature, take pulses at every possible point on my body and listen to my heart from a bunch of different areas to hear my heart murmur.  There was more, I am sure, but I am having a hard time recalling it all.

We then left the building and walked a few blocks away so I could get my chest x-rayed.  I hadn’t had a chest x-ray before and I was amused to note that mammoth tits like mine show up on the x-rays.

Back to the building with the first doctor and I went to pathology there for a blood test.

Back to the nurse I saw earlier and it was 4 needles for my vaccinations.

Handed over the paperwork that I had to have signed by the doctor, the x-ray technician and the pathologist, and we were allowed to go.

Thank goodness, because M was in really bad shape after the walking etc and I was struggling.

We’re back home now and so effing sick and tired.  We have the heat on in the bedroom and we’re just laying around trying to rest.

We left our precious Ernie in mother’s care, which never ends well.  We came home to shredded chocolate wrappers all over the bedroom from where Ernie had rummaged through the closet to find stuff (why he was in our room, I don’t know) and two piles of dried puke.  How nice.  Then we realised that mother had moved what was left of the chocolate, but didn’t bother to clean up the vomit or even just shut the door so Ernie couldn’t get back in there.  So Ernie did a lovely poo this afternoon that was studded with crushed hazelnuts from all the Fererro Rochers that he ate ….

I just feel so unwell.  So congested, snotty… I have a nasty, phlegmy cough, as well.  So gross.

What a bugger of a day! I can’t believe how involved that medical was! Rest up and get well xoxo

I’m sorry that I laughed at the Ernie shenanigans, but I did. Don’t worry, it’s a sympathetic laugh – I know how much trouble animals can be. WOW, that is a lot of rigamarole for the medical. Not surprising though as it’s America you’re headed to 😉

Chocolate is toxic to dogs.
