So this makes me feel really sad. I said to my boss that I am feeling weird about it because I made this role MY JOB. It was a totally different role when I first took it up, and I have run with it and turned it into something completely different. Now I am handing that over to someone else and crossing my fingers that they keep it running.
I cancelled the internet, gas and electricity at the apartment. A nice feeling to cut those services off, but not so nice to think of the final bills that will roll in in the next few weeks.
I had been to the apartment this morning to collect a few more things, and I went back there after work to meet my landlord. She had wanted to show someone through, but the person cancelled. She came by anyway and I showed her through and let her know that I would be finished there by tomorrow night and could give her back the keys. She kept exclaiming over how clean everything was and I realised that it would be rare for her to have to do that inspection, seeing as her tenants all seem to run out on or her or have to be evicted – she always ends up with a filthy apartment, or one that is still full of someone else’s shit. So anyway, I said I could dropthe keys over tomorrow night and asked what she would like to do with the bond. She said she would write me a cheque that minute and proceeded to do so. I was stunned! I thanked her for returning the bond before even having the keys back and she said that I had been a "perfect tenant" and that she could see that the apartment was in fine condition. WHAT A RELIEF!
Although, I am still cautious with her because she just seems shady. I will wait until the cheque clears before I breathe that final sigh of relief!
So tonight I just came home. I had intended to go over to the apartment again but I am just so tired. I haven’t been getting to bed until late and my body is still very sore from moving. Mother is sick so M and I got some take away (AGAIN, ugh) and took some in for her. I was pleased to be home and able to rest, but then of course we got into unpacking and sorting stuff and suddenly it was 8:30 … I wanted to set up the little tv in our bedroom, but I fucked up the digital receiver when I moved it and it’s pretty much ruined. Sucks. I don’t want to fork out for a new one, but I am such a tv addict. I should be able to get a new one for maybe $30.00 so it’s not so bad.
I have to get to bed. My eyes are burning ….
Keep all those points in mind for your resume! Thank god the landlord seems to be good about the bond. About time you got something good out of that apartment other than just a roof over your head.
