Hippo Birdie To Me!

Yep, it’s that time again. Funny how I’ve been dreading this year ‘cus it brings me so much closer to the BIG one. Then Thursday night I found myself getting all excited that Friday was my birthday. I didn’t really expect anything special. Any friends are far away these days, and the family did their celebration thing with Thanksgiving last Sunday. Yet I was like a little kid filled with giddy, joyful anticipation. I kept catching myself singing ‘happy birthday to me’ throughout the day at work and even when I came home.  Okay, I’ve officially lost the last few tattered remains of my mind, I thought to myself. Well heck, I deserve to feel good about my birthday after all these years. The main problem is that it’s always a let down once the actual day arrives and then I’m left feeling sad and bummed out.

When I got into work today the group got together to sing Happy Birthday and present me with a donut with a candle in it on a porcelain plate that had been drizzled in chocolate sauce. (I’m allergic to eggs, so birthday cake is a no-no.) Then they gave me a very nice silver coloured necklace and earrings. It was very thoughtful and kind of them.

I was on the radio today too! I called in & told the deejay to play something good ‘cus today was my special day. She was very friendly and chatted with me for a minute or two. I didn’t realise she had recorded our conversation and later that hour I was thrilled to hear my voice on the radio asking for a birthday song. ðŸ˜€  I’m famous!!! *NOT*

After work I went for a massage therapy appointment. I’m still getting treatment for the torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder. Then when I got home near eight and dad told me to go over to Brenda’s place. Nicholas (who got his first job last month) and Timmy had gone shopping and bought me presents themselves. I was very touched that they had actually put some thought and effort on my behalf. Timmy even wrote out the card and nearly brought me to tears. He wrote ‘"You should be treated the way you are …a princess."  Isn’t that lovely?

So, even though it was a quiet night, it’s been a nice birthday.  And there’s still the weekend to look forward to. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Warm hugs.

Happy Belated Birthday! I trail you by four days — am at this very moment less than 2 hours away from my birth-minute, which I’ll try to stay up late enough to catch (at 2:23 in the morning). Haven’t gotten to the dreading part — as I see it, hot diggity, I’ve survived another year! (47 this time ’round.) Grin. May you have many more such wonderful days and all those in-between.
