Running of the Brides

Quote of the day:

"Balance is the key to success in all things. Do not neglect your mind, body, or spirit. Invest time and energy in all of them equally – it will be the best investment you ever make, not just for your life but for whatever is to follow.

Ok, so I get there and I’m frustrated and in tears. Alandria hadn’t left home yet and I couldn’t find Mare. I told Alandria to just not to come as she had to take the metro all the way from Alexandria to Upper Northwest DC. I called my mom and told her how absolutely alone I felt and that I didn’t want to do it today anymore. We hung up, and then Mare called.See, Mare doesn’t have a cell, so catching up with her is almost impossible. Come to find out she was across the street at the Apple store because she had gotten to Filene’s early and was waiting for me. She used the phone there and called. She came over, and the shopping began. I had already found two dresses, tried them on, and they were a no. One was too small, and the other was blah. See, in wedding dresses you have to go 2 sizes bigger than you normally wear. Don’t ask why ’cause I don’t know lol. So we were on the hunt for more. Mare wasn’t having any luck so she decided to hold our space on the side of the room and collect whatever I found.

[sidenote] Perverts would love the running of the brides! Women stripped down to their bare necessities out in the middle of the store. Yeah…[end sidenote]

So I came back with two more. One had amazing bead work, and the other fit really well. The one with the amazing bead work was way too big and would need to be taken in, so I was having a hard time getting a feel for it, but loved it on the rack. The other fit really well but was "nice", not "wow". So i told mare I was gonna go look one more time. And I did. I grabbed one and kept looking. Grabbed another and kept looking. Then tried them both on. The first was a no. The second…the second was "wait…wha? is this? wait…". Yeah. Yeah. This is it. This.is.it. Everyone said "that’s the one". I tried the one with the bead work on again, Mare held it closed in the back so I could see how it fit, and suddenly it didn’t look that great on me. you couldn’t even tell I had a shape. But the one I got? Yeah, totally made the one with the great bead work look like a loser! So, there you have it. That’s my story. Everytime someone found a dress they liked, they would scream and everyone would clap. It’s like a tradition. So Mare said "on the count of 3. 1,2..wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!" And we screamed. And everyone clapped! And then we went and checked out. And then Mare took a picture of me holding the dress in front of Filenes. Then we went to my favorite sandwhich shop, booeymongers, to grab lunch. And people congratulated me. And people at the metro asked to see and congratulated me. Absolutely surreal.

That was my day :~D
