The Tides of Life~~~
Sometimes, I feel like a butterfly,
just emerging from my cocoon.
So many sights and sounds
from early dawn to the waxing of the moon.
So many untraveled paths;
which way will fate lead?
My heart blossoms
breaking through the cold, damp soil,
embracing the tides of life on which it feeds.
Sometimes, its difficult
to put dreams on a shelf.
And yet, I know
that this is something that I do myself.
No regrets
No feelings of remorse
At times, in life
we simply must travel a different course
But in the lyrics of a song
or in the stanza of a grand symphony
I sometimes envision myself sailing
to far horizons across a blue-gray sea.
With sails unfurled and wind-swept mists,
I feel the salt-sea spray of the oceans kiss.
On pearlescent crests that rise and fall,
I watch as dolphins dance and listen to the eagles call.
A Great White swims nearby,
as I trace his outline above in the cloud-filled azure sky.
And so, I go about my day </o
:p>
I smile, and enjoy each moment in time.
But occasionally, in the lyrics of a song
or in the stanza of a grand symphony,
my heart blossoms
and I set sail upon a pearlescent sea~
I travel to the homeland of my heritage in my heart and mind,
and who knows, maybe one day, I will indeed make that dream a reality~
May all your dreams become your reality…
“the Tides of Life” is going in the Adrift folder of my Poems file. May i please use it at some future post? It brought to mind another gem, with an unforgettable cadence: One ship sails East, another WestBy the self same winds that blowIt isn’t the gales, it’s the set of the sailsThat determines the way we go Ellen Wheeler Wilcox

Somewhere there was an explanation given about why time seems to pass faster with age. ( To judge things we need a reference to go by. Eg, to know happines we need to have experienced unhappiness). At one year old, your time reference is a year. At 50 a year has shrunk to only a 50’th of your life

I, too, dream of far horizons where new adventures of the spirit await. We have to hold onto those dreams, as you do. Thank you, as always, for your kind and gracious notes, dear friend. Wishing you happiness always,

“On pearlescent crests”….I like that vision. May your pearlescent dream of travelling across the seas one day become a pearlescent reality. *smiles* Enjoy: The Notebook! Since I have a few VCR’s, I’ll wait for it to come on tv, to tape: to see it, yet again! *smiles* May the balmy breezes of life be kind to you~ *smiles* Bri

Your beautiful words flow as the sea, Rising and falling as the tides flow. Only a heart full of longing for a beloved place, Contents itself with all it can know. *** I really do hope you see that beloved shore someday soon, adrift, but in the meanwhile, you find your happiness in the tides of your life. *** Thank you for the many lovely notes.

I’m going to help my mother’s dream become a reality. I am taking her to Sweden in the summer of 2006. Her father was from there & she has always wanted to go. It is a long ways off but it will be all that much more exciting when we finally get there. Where is your homeland?
