Home of Rock and Ocean Mist~~~

Dear home of rock and ocean mist
where sea gulls dive in waves pearl-kissed
and dolphins leap in playfulness
as dawn breaks across thy breast

Upon your cragged cliffs I stand
and gaze in wonder o’er this land
Where winds of history still blow
filling Viking sails of long ago

Tall ships braved the unknown seas
to discover this Island of mystery
where one can carve his destiny
still wild, untamed, and free

Old dinghys moored to weathered piers
survive each passing year
as men fish in water’s deep
traditions still to keep

In winter, ice blankets the well-worn trails
and beacons warn of sudden gales
All ships at sea called home to rest
to wait till spring to sail thy crests

In summer, meadows turn vibrant green
as icebergs once again are seen
Majestic sculptures dwarf man and boat
in silence and dignity float |

In fall, the leaves turn red and gold
as ships at dock, their wares unload
Four times a year supplies are brought
to keep the Island stocked

In summer, winter, spring, or fall
I hear your plaintive call
Across these endless miles of sea
to this desert land of clay…
and as I sleep, one dream repeats
to see your shores someday~

Just imagine how the Viking explorers felt seeing that new land after many anxious days of sailing into the unknown. Another early trip even more amazing was told in Michener’s book, Hawaii: Tahitins did 40 degrees of latitude to discover Hawaii– and even found the way back to Tahiti to bring a deity to placate the volcano god in Mauna Loa.

My friend, I hope your dream of being near that shore will be fulfilled. This is a beautiful poem. You are drawn back time and again to that place. How special it must be! I feel so fortunate to be near the ocean and able to walk by the sea often, as it is my muse and inspiration. I feel I am truly at the edge of the world and looking out over realms mysterious and beckoning. Take good care,

I can just see those craggy cliffs, my friend, beaten by the high north Atlantic ocean waves! What a beautiful place and a throughly beautiful verse to describe it. Longing knows no distance, S, because it calls to your heart, then its call will always be heard. I, like our friend, Oswego, truly hope you see your wonderful island and revel in every moment there! cont.

Oh, yes, I almost forgot. Ryn: No, the new business is not entailed with writing but with real estate, which my sister, Amelia, is very good at. I am going to assist her in what ways I can. She says the money will be good. I hope so but either way, I will keep writing no matter what. Is your husband doing better? Always,

You are a visionary Dear Adagio-may your dreams come true and you will walk the shores again.Cheers,Looking up

Hoping one day: your name will be carved upon the tall ships as it floats along the waves pearl-kissed~ with all the gentle creatures of the sea: as your company as you at long-last welcome your embracable destiny~ *smiles* Bri

I know, the sea can be unforgiving. but what it takes it gives tenfold in beauty and in freedom. Where else can we find serenity where else can we feel free In the silence and cacophony The sea it speaks to me Patrick

Happy Mother’s Day, S! Hope all is well with you.

I seek quieter beaches. At dawn, a single set of foot prints follows me. An endless stretch, of pure white sand and wind blown tussock grass. Sand hills rise up, a buttress to the sea. Waves tumble in, and the oceans treasure are washed upon the beach. I watch my footprints, leave their mark. Like my spirit, they are washed clean by the incoming tide. I look behind, but do not see

Footprints where, I have been. Patrick

you are missed. ~mns

24th Nov 2006 Beside the water still, a heart beats near of one so dear. Through misty morning hours, golden sunshine and coastal showers. Beside the water still, I sit with you, and dream until; we dream as one. Patrick

Will the poet that writes of love that writes of the tides of the seas ever grace the shores, again: of the OD Is she floating in calm waters or is she: adrift in all of life’s business~ *smiles* Bri

“Valentine be mine” Joined together are we for all eternity as the tides are to the sea You are the very heart of me~ “You are my soul, my love, my heart, my being each day. You are the essence of me.” Your Valentine
