Busy week

So last week was really busy. Nicole was at camp, and we had company everyday that she was gone except Wednesday. It was a lot of fun. This week isn’t much less busy. We have VBS and the speaker is amazing.

I made mulberry jam yesterday and canned it. Both of those are first for me. It worked wonderfully, I was kind of shocked because I figured I would mess up on my first time canning.

Yesterday we started a chore system at our house. It seems to be working really well. The kids are getting their chores done and the house is staying relatively clean.

I’m now going through all of my cook books which is taking a lot of time and I’m picking out my favorite recipes. I’m planning on only keeping 1 shelf of cookbooks rather than 3 1/2 and just having my go to favorites here in my diary.

I’m also working on decluttering the house and minimizing all the things that we own. It’s taking a lot of effort, but it has been completely worth it.

Saturday we are heading to Manhattan to take care of my meat birds, and yes I do mean they are ready to become meat. I’ve never done it before, but I figure it can’t be that terrible and I know they have been fed well and that the meat will be high quality. It means I need to come up with more recipes for whole chickens rather than my boneless skinless chicken breast and my boneless skinless chicken thighs.

I bet fresh chicken beats anything you’d buy in the store.

RYN: How frustrating! How would adopting be any less work than if you gave birth to enough kids to make 14?! They don’t regulate that… insane. I hips you’re able to appeal it.
