October
I started watching the third season of Torchwood (called Children of Earth) yesterday. It’s amazing, and more than a little creepy. Makes me wish we didn’t have a million things to do today, I’d really love to just sit on the couch and finish watching it on my iPad while the kids play! But, alas, there is school to be done, and a co-op field trip to a dairy farm, and then we have piano lessons, and then we’re off to the airport to pick up my friend who’s returning home from Colorado….sigh, perhaps tonight I can sit down and watch an episode or two!
October is a busy month. Friday I’m flying to Miami for my 20th high school reunion, for which I have purchased a dress and shoes that I love (though they might hurt my feet just a tiny bit…). While I’m there, I hope to catch up with a lot of old friends, and my sister is also coming over from Ft. Myers to hang out with me for a bit! I’m flying back early Sunday so I can attend Sunday in the Park at the Historic Oakland Cemetery – it’s the one day a year when they open up the mausoleums to the public! I may or may not be dressing up in a Civil War mourning dress and bonnet, depending on how I’m feeling after the reunion weekend (and if my hoop skirt will fit in my friend J’s car).
Next weekend, my book club is going on a retreat of sorts – there are twelve women in the book club, and we all pitched in to rent a fabulous mountain cabin for the weekend. There will be lots of wine, fabulous food, and great company – and we’re all semi-introverts, so there are also plenty of places to disappear to and curl up with a good book.
The weekend after that, Halloween festivities kick off – Friday evening I’m attending one of the final performances of The Ghastly Dreadfuls at the Center for Puppetry Arts. This puppet show is definitely not for kids, and I’m ridiculously excited about it! We may also take the kids to Boo at the Zoo that weekend, probably on Sunday.
And the weekend after that, we have a Halloween Hike with the kids on Friday night, my friend M’s amazing annual Halloween party on Saturday, and then I will have to exert willpower and attempt not to eat all the candy on the actual day of Halloween. Wish me luck with that one!
SoBe update: I’ve lost a total of 14 lbs, and I’ve stalled out a bit – I think it’s partly due to PMS, which has caused me to indulge my weakness for Yogli Mogli. As soon as I get my willpower back, I hope to continue losing weight!
Have a box of tissues ready when you’re watching Children of Earth! 🙁
