who the hell cares what he’s doing!

Reading responses to my last entry made me a bit T Oed.  Not with any of you responders, but with some people in general.  It has to do with Prince and what hes doing on a spiritual level.  First, do i think hes still a practicing JW?  I’m going to go with no, due to some of his recent purchases and return to the spotlight.  However do i think hes crap now?  or even some apostate bastard?

Hell no!

Nothing bothers me more then people i talk to that like Prince and say they think hes great only because theyve heard about his ties to being a witness.  To illustrate how lame that is, would you be excited if you found out that Nickelback were witnesses?  Of course not, they still suck on asses.  It doesnt increase their skill level, make them more entertaining, magically give them musical talent.  I listen to music for its music content, not because i agree with the artist/bands religious, political, or philisophical ideas.  I dont give a crap about that.  I want to hear good music that impresses me, or makes me think.

Prince has been around for years.  Well before my time, and most likely before any of you who responds time.  The guy has more musical talent then any other "mainstream" musician out there.  Not to say that there isnt talent out there.  But no one has such a wide range.  i wont go into detail on how Prince is awesome, im sure ive already writen about that somewhere on this site.

Is it cool that Prince doesnt seem to be a witness anymore?  No.  i thought it was pretty cool that he was.  But the bottom line is that i like him because he rocks on guitar, and sings and dances like a mo.  Tea party supposedly have some sort of witness hatred.  I still think that "heaving coming down" is one of the best songs.  Remember the Mel Gibson fiasco?  I remember reading reviews on Apocalypto and instead of talking about the movie, all they would talk about is his jew hatred.  Does that have anything to do with the movie he made?  Maybe if the movie was called Jew 4: Death to Jews.  But it wasn’t, it was an awesome movie and im sure that if any of you saw it you will agree.

So instead of being one of those people that was all on the Prince bandwagon a couple years ago only because of his being a witness, be one of those people that listens to music for its music.  We can always hope that he makes good choices in the end.  In the meantime i am going to enjoy some Darling Nikki and try to comprehend how he makes such crazy screams.

The main thing that I can’t stand is that I first owned Prince CD when I was 11 (and I don’t really care about him). And all of a sudden, here I am at 22 and all of these little kids are poppin’ out of the woodwork screaming how much Prince rules because they’ve discovered that he was studying, got baptised, whatever… The dude has been making music for like 30 years! Bandwagoners can go to hell!

actually Sarah, if you read my entry, you will notice that i wasnt mad at you, or any of the others that responded. It just reminded me of something i wanted to rant about. Not a freak out towards you.

I agree wholeheartedly. It’s like Lars from Metallica, he annoyed me with the whole napster lawsuit a few years ago and I couldn’t stand to listen to the band even though Metallica’s Black album is one of my fondest memories from when I was younger. Then I grew the hell up and realized it was the quality of the music that mattered, not so much the quality of the person who made it.

i’d like to speculate on musicians popularity. in fact, is it not true that what is poplar is considered so for the fact that it is accepted and enjoyed by the majority? that being said, consider the MASS popularity of michael jackson. he was once a witness, i suppose. similar to prince at one point being associated. both had a large measure of popularity prior to knowledge of the bible cont……

…and jehovah. while trying to serve Him perhaps, the popularity went down. and when giving in to the System (and therefore Satan) they regained popularity in leaps and bounds. this is fishy to me. i dislike Prince (and MJ)hugely for this fact. i enjoy his music but i cant help but feel that he is a dirty bird. i challenge anyone to admit they can fully detach sentiment from music enjoyment.

it seems to me that whatever is so popular in the system of things is backed by the ruler of this system of things. (the whole 1 + 1 = 2) very interesting to think about. and touche on the sex sells comment. he is not that different from the rest of the crap out there. it is all based upon meaning that listeners attach to the sound.

who cares what religion he is, hes still a rockstar. im with you ades. nickelback can kiss my ass.

February 13, 2007

sex to sell? come on, i don’t USE my sexiness to sell me, it just happens. but seriously. music is music, people are people. people are people, so why should it be, that anyone likes nickelback? i really have nothing to say. but kiss is a wicked song, and really all i know of prince, so i remove myself from the conversation.

Wow… somewhere along the line this went from an explanation as to why it shouldn’t matter what Prince does in his personal life because his music is almost completely unrelated, to a public talk. Bottom line… witness or not, he sings, he dances, and that’s why people buy his albums. Nothing more…

hahaha people are crazy. we, however, are also crazy. crazy crazy. crazy. mo fo. are you at work?
