Spotlight: Dallas

I figured since Dally is leaving us soon, i had better get a spotlight ready by pulling all the old files from my brain and trying to arrange them in a logical order.  I like to pride myself with a decent memory, but even pros like me can forget things, so im sorry Dally if anything is missed.  However, im sure some of Spotlight: Dallas will remind you of good times.  So let the history of me and Dally begin.

The story has a bit of a tragic beginning.  The files that once kept record of our first time meeting have been misplaced, and due to the large amount of files, i cant start things off properly.  But i do have a theory that perhaps Dally can correct me on if i am wrong.  It only makes sense that Dally showed up around the same time as Kirsten did, coming from the same area.  This woulve been around the time, that i lived at Void #2, and was busy with the Parsons most of the time.  First impression of Dally was favorable, funny guy, interest in music.  He had large lips, i remember that.  And skinny as can be.  But he also played a little guitar/bass and so an immediate bond was formed.

The early days were a haze of meeting up at parties and functions, the odd ride in his old car.  I cant remember the order of his living accomadations but i know he was at Kiris for a while, with Kiris bro Matt for a while, with Channing for a while, and downtown with kyle and Derek for a while.  Sometimes he would longboard over to the Loghouse and sing a tune with me.  Those were good times.  When we were short a bassist, Dally was always up for the job whether at parsons or when i lived at wes and wades, and i know he will never forget the infamous cult medley, where we literaly melted faces.

Dally accompanied me to many a party, where often hillarious shenanigans ensued.  I remember him trying to make moves on a certain lady, and after getting denied felt a bit in the dumps.  Me and Channing were there to cheer him up with the laughable line, "dont worry Dally, you can make out with her tomorrow."  He was happy for the rest of the night.  One night, me and him and Channing went over to Leons to drink some absinthe, and Dally destroyed their bathroom. Hahaha! Pure hillarity.

Dally is quite good at making up songs on the fly.  When nothing was going on, we would grab some accoustics and make up whatever crap came into our heads.  Often times he would help me and Channing with our ever changing never ending "Peanut butter song."  Dallas has very differnt music tastes then me, but that never led to any serious disagreements.  Dallas is a peacemaker and is always good at finding common ground with a person to ease any tension.  I don’t think i have ever been mad at him for anything.

I was with him the day he finally gave up his classic car, and went for the beige thing he drove for a while.  I did not support him on this choice, but i was glad he took me for the ride.  I think i just missed good times in the old car.

One week, we had a snow in at Void #2 and Dally was a huge part of it.  Nothing but snow wars, movies, drinking champagne and the like for an entire week.  Dallas is also an excellant tactician which can be seen in his risk playing abilities.  I remember battlling it out with him and Derek for hours, until we finally realized that we were all each others equal and the game woudl never end.  We made a treaty and declared each of us as a coruler of the world.  Dallas showing his peacemaker quality again.

Another treat was when Dallas showed up with his new bass.  An SG that matched in rock power to my own SG!  Those two went on many a musical adventure.

Sometimes you never learn all there is about a person.  Now living with Jordan, i learned something else about the guy.  Do you like Star Trek? or practically any sci fi show?  Then Dallas is your man.  All of a sudden, out of nowhere he bubbles forth all this sci fi knowledge.  Where did that come from Dallas?

As times changed i saw less of Dallas, but always enjoyed the times that he was around.  It makes me wonder what his next move will bring for him?  Power? Fame? A lady? Who knows.  But one things for sure, he is always welcome to come crash with me.  I trust him and I will miss him.  Dallyshire.
