Whoah!

White Christmas indeed! Like two feet of it!

DIA has shut down until noon on Friday, stranding 4,700 travelers. By yesterday afternoon, UPS sent their workers home—which is nearly unheard of in Don’s history with the company. Today no one can move. Freeways are shut down, side streets are totally impossible, and cars are those big white lumps along the street. For those of us lucky enough to have warm houses, power, and full refrigerators—this is a cozy respite and an excuse to just slow down.

Here’s Don and the Amazing Snow Poodle—(wearing her chi-chi zebra coat, of course!)

My car is somewhere under there…

And the giant head-bush looks a bit weighed down….

There were tears on the phone this morning though. After watching the news, it looked as though Trevor, whose flight was supposed to get into DIA tonight, would not be making it home for Christmas. They were saying that the earliest rescheduled flights wouldn’t be until the 27th.

Don finally got through to Northwest airlines and spoke with a warm, laughing and helpful…angel. She was able to change flights, extend days and…poof! We got Trevor a ticket for Christmas day through January 4.

Tears of relief this time…..and all is back to being very well.

Yay for Angels! Yay for snow! I wish we had some. Perhaps not that much, but some! 🙂 Be well,

lovely, lovely angels. I was worried about you when i saw the news this morning. I’m SO glad you checked in.

Yes, yes, a present for Christmas for all of you that can’t be measured.

December 21, 2006

Wow! Snow, indeed! I’ve been telling folks mailing packages today that the Denver hub may cause delays. Good to hear that you get your boy for Christmas!

You just never know where the angels are! There is a certain irony to the snow you have, and the fact that my lilac bush looks like it will actually shoot leaves in a week, if the weather hear continues above freezing for much longer. I thought WE were the great white north!

This is the BEST news! When I saw your weather on TV this morning I felt sick for you because I figured he wouldn’t make it home for Christmas. Oh JOY! I’m so happy for you.

December 21, 2006

…oh my goodness!!! You guys did get hit didn’t you? If I remember correctly…you don’t usually get this do you? Stay warm…drink lots of warm beverages and enjoy each other. Before I even got to the end of this entry…I was worried that Trevor wasn’t going to make it after all. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that NOTHING changes and that he will be home for Christmas.

…thanks for your kind notes. Yes…it has been a tough month or so but I hope the worst of it is behind me now. Gee…you NEVER know what will happen…when!

December 21, 2006

Oh, it’s so wonderful to see your name in bold on my favourites list. 🙂 I’m so glad Trevor will be making it home for the holidays! (Although….I will admit I was jealous of your snow until I read the part about his flight being cancelled. There’s something WRONG about us having balmy spring days in the week before Christmas.)

You must’ve been nice (instead of naughty) this year. J Thank goodness for all the angels! Happy Holidays to you and yours,

Cat

Yay for Christmas angels! That’s some snow! I’m sure our turn will come in the Northeast…..*shudder*

December 21, 2006

How wonderful that you get your boy home on Christmas! Have a wonderful one!

Kari, We tried to reach you two by phone and e-mail — apparently without luck. Please send your e-mail address to me at lori@kasenter.com. We would love to reconnect! Happy, happy holidays! (Enjoy the snow!!!) Tom and Lori in Pittsburgh

oh so glad you could get trevor home for christmas day. hopefully the dump of snow stops. i have a chat friend who got stuck on a bus for 9 hours going from denver to boulder, alas! poor thing. but she actually lucked out with the best bus driver on the force who knew all the back roads and could handle the bus better than anyone else could, so she did eventually get home.

Oh my…. I’ve been watching the storm on the news. I feel so bad for all those stranded in the airports! Wow… my thoughts & prayers are with all those affected!

Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve seen you around or been in touch, but I read your note tonight and wandered over… I didn’t realize you’re in Denver (that’s DIA, right?)…. we’ve been talking about you guys for the last few days, our hearts going out to everyone stranded at the airport, especially after going through our extended power outage last weekend…. we felt for you all. I am SO gladyou have power, and a full refrigerator, and you are feeling warm and cozy. And so glad your family member is on his way home! HO HO HO, Merry Christmas!

December 23, 2006

Angels are always good to have around. 🙂 Stay warm & safe!

December 23, 2006

Aaaaaaah, a poodle in the snow!!!!! They’re lunatics! We have fog instead of snow, thousands of people unable to fly out of the country, hah! There’s no escape from a grey skied English Christmas!

December 24, 2006

And may all your Christmases be a little less white. Happy Christmas dear one.

Oh, you guys, trying to upstage our windstorm, eh? Heehee! From what I hear, your snow was Colorado’s way of receiving the same storm front after it left our territory. The way things are going, looks like we’re going to be rivals for the weird weather capital of the western world! And our yards and streets and houses are, at best, strewn with tree branches and scattered trash cans, and at worst, crashed and splintered and broken. At this point, I think we’d trade some of our wind for some of your snow! Our post offices even stopped delivering, and it was the first time in 70 years our paper wasn’t fully published. It’s funny, my mom grew up in Northern – next to Canada northern – New York, and we’ve seen photos of snow banks 6 ft high. When we kids balked at walking to school in the snow in MD, she pulled out those pix, telling us that if she walked through 6 ft of snow to get to school, we could certainly handle a mere foot or so! But nevermind, HOORAY for Don’s persuasive shoozing! And I’ll bet that agent got almost as warm a feeling helping y’all as you got from her assistance!

Merry Christmas! Hohohohohohohohohohoho! º<╟;o)

At least you can’t tell if your car is covered in tree sap. ;=) This is snow! When I think we have a lot here it is less than half of this. That is like a tunnel along your walk. I’m happy you have Don to shovel it. When I saw the middle photo I chuckled because I could totally tell it was him. Must be his aura. You are blessed in so many ways – and hey you two, you now have all that time andprivacy that a couple who starts out with kids can’t have – ENJOY!
