Quick answers…

Lots of private and open questions in my notes after photos on my last entry—so here’s some quick answers.

1) I am making the birdhouses as well as other ornaments and gifts for upcoming craft sales in November-December.

2) This is one of my main sources of income for the year, so I work hard to make as many ornaments and gifts as I can to sell during the next couple months. I make each ornament by hand and do not use molds, so no two are ever exactly the same. The clay is a polymer clay called Premo, and it is baked in my oven.

3) The time it takes to do my IttiBitties varies–depending on how detailed I get. Often times I can set up a little production line and do different steps until they are all finished. Some go very quickly and others are more painstaking. A tray of 50 simple little angels in a production line may take 12 hours or less. 50 one of a kind birdhouses may take 25 hours or more. (Which is why the angels sell for $7 and the birdhouses for $15.)

4) My most popular items change from year to year. Last year I sold out of all the birdhouses and all the white-on-white nativity sets. The year before, I could never seem to make enough angels. Consistently people are crazy about the local college and high school sports mascots and the little graduation guys in school colors.

5) I have a blast doing this, and my face hurts from smiling at the end of my craft weekends. This is the one “cute” thing that I do, and I have gained quite a word-of-mouth following of loyal customers here in town. Because these ornaments are so small (2” high or so), people do not always see them right away. I love watching craft sale wanderers do a double-take, come back to look more closely and then see their faces light up as they exclaim “Cuuuuute!” or “Adorable!” or “How sweet!” (This is always very fun and gratifying—but by January, I am completely cuted-out and have urges to do big dark angsty paintings just to balance out the overload of sugar coating.)

6) I don’t travel to towns outside a 20 mile radius to do this anymore…too much work. (Plus strange things happen to our cars, as some of you may recall….) This year I am hosting two weekends of “Artsy Stuff”, a craft fair in my house. I jury my own little show and invite other (amazing) artists whose work I like–to come and sell their wares. I’ve done this home show over the past couple years and it has been quite successful for all of us—and way, WAY fun!

7) Yes, I have a website: ittibitties.com

8) I am very flattered that some of you want to buy my ornaments, and yes, of course you can! If you would like to order directly from me, rather than the website, I can offer all my OD friends free shipping. Leave me a private note with all your info and what you would like….and thanks! I truly did not expect this!

Okay…back to birdhouses!

Wow, I am awed by your talent.

We want one puppy dog ornament for our tree because we all miss Mollie Grace, and one small angel and one birdhouse to give as gifts. May I send a personal check? $30.00 rounded off, right? And to where? 🙂 PS my regular email address ttimita@ipa.net is working now. But still use fearless_dreamer@hotmail.com if sending attachments. Hugs,

RYN: You pick which one. I’m not a big fan of pink but other than that, I’m easy!

ryn: Thanks 🙂 I emailed the address to you. I’ll send a check to you in today’s mail. Hugs

Reading this (and looking at previous entry pictures) made me smile, because the one you sent me still sits on the shelf in front of me. You are SO very talented, multi-faceted even.

The craft fair at home sounds like such a practical and wonderful idea. And it is cool that you can benefit in this way from something you sound like you enjoy so much!

funny there is no note from me here. 🙂 I read everything almost as soon as you post it, but I don’t always have anything to say. Mostly, you make me smile. Thank you for your notes, Kari. I really think if getting far away from Mr. B were an option, healing would be faster. But because of Morgan, because he’s a good father, because he’d follow us no matter where we went, because Morgan loves him so,I can’t get away yet. I just have to be patient and try to filter what I think his perception is through my own truth. I’m extremely self aware. I know my faults and weaknesses. They aren’t necessarily what he thinks they are. And he’s a good man, ya know? love you, elizabeth

I loved your underneath the puffy coat note, and I really would like to talk to Morgan to figure out what’s up. It takes awhile for her to articulate such things. She’s with Bill until tomorrow after school. I can’t get to her right now. It’s killing me. I don’t think he understands that there is SO much to being an 11-year-old girl. I haven’t responded to his email. I’m too furious. I’m too protective of her maybe? I don’t know.

I think your creations are adorable and well-crafted. No wonder everyone loves them! I knew little to nothing about polymer clay, but we now use it alot in our kiddie art classes. The colors are very lovely. Enjoy making those cute (and profitable) itty-bitties! : )

IttiBitties received! 😀 Along with your gorgeous original illustration. I love the ittibitties and I still can’t really express how wonderful it is to have your illustration on the cover of my book. I think we finally have everything ready to put the book the rest of the way together and order the proof copy next week. Meanwhile, I’m in the middle of solving a heating and water heating crisis. I’m grateful we’re solving it! Enjoy your art. You make a good difference in the world with it. Love ya,

The IttiBitties are fabulous! 🙂

In my RRK diary I have catalogued as many of the paintings of Raymond Rowley King as I can find, with some commentary. Your name was on an ‘community’ list for people interested in Art, so I was hopeful that you might come look at his work.

…seriously? You’ve been to that bridge in NC??? When? Speaking of when…when you get past all the craziness of Christmas and ittie bitties…you MUST send me the must do or sees for Cinque Terra. How long did you guys spend there? Our friends’ daughter who spent this semester last year in Rome LOVED it! I can’t wait!

I get lots of comments on my ittibitties! 🙂 RYN: Still scrambling but progress is being made. Thanks for dropping by and leaving good wishes. Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving! **HUGS**
