AND he cooks!

In the midst of my seat-of-the-pants scurrying about these days—I have been enjoying my birth month and grabbing bits of celebration time when I can. Girlfriend lunches here, small extravagances there…and the usual and often obnoxious “It’s my birthmonth so I can buy that skirt/order that dessert/drink that second cup of Chai if I want to….” rationalizations.

The cast at the high school caught rumor of my birthday during rehearsal and sang “Happy Birthday Ms. Kari!” in a delightfully loud and theatrically raucous manner. They pretended to be shocked when they found out how old I was—(such good actors) and got many hugs for that!

Although I shouldn’t have–and will pay for it tomorrow– I actually took the weekend off from all productions and projects, and just relaxed with Don. We went to look at a cool vintage Haywood-Wakefield dining room set that we may get, went grocery shopping together (always an adventure), and later several friends came over to have a birthday dinner celebration. Conversation was lively and the house rang with hard laughter. Don cooked his delicious recent specialties—chicken Marsala and chocolate mousse pie.

Today was a lovely lazy Sunday with breakfast and newspapers and an afternoon matinée. “Lyrics and Music” (or is it “Music and Lyrics”?) was a sweet and charming Little Movie and fit our moods.

I feel recharged—which is good because tomorrow I hit the ground running again–and will not stop until after the productions are over!

(And yes, I am still absolutely loving this!)

Birthday confetti! It might have been Turner and not AMC, but OMG!!! I was staring at that dress too, thinking “I waaaaant it!” Not so much the pink-and-white atrocity she was wearing in the Old Fashioned Serenade number. *hee* 😉

Well, you LOOK 35 so I’m guessing they were shocked. Yep. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Go buy another skirt.

…sounds like a perfectly PERFECT birthday celebration weekend in the middle of the birth month celebration! 🙂 Too bad you were born in a month with so few days. You certainly deserve a March or December! I love the birthday (month) rationalizations. I do them too! Happy happy!

Sending Birthday hugs.

yep. i took the weekend off. i sort of have to actually do some homework at some point really soon to remind myself that i’m actually in school and dont want to get behind! heh. and yet, very fabulous to have time in which i didnt have to do anything. so i most definitely think you taking the weekend off was a fabulous idea. recharges the batteries, gets the creative juices flowing. eversince i watched that ‘creative spirit’ series that was on pbs, i learned a lot about taking breaks and relaxing being more productive and helpful. 🙂

Happy Birthday! Celebration is always a grand thing to do. Especially when he cooks, too 🙂 Enjoy! Hugs,

Book signing party has begun 🙂 Hugs,

AND he is so lovely to her guests. He makes them his friends too. You know having a man who knows how to be gracious and sincere with a woman’s friends is such a special blessing. I know so many probably otherwise nice men who seem so rude when you visit their wives. They have no clue how to be a part of the visit or excuse themselves graciously. Don is a super nice man, fun to visit with and you two have something so very special – I’m ecstatic for you, that you are having this honeymoon as new empty nesters. Best wishes for your show – it will be a smash – especially the costumes. A belated Happy Birthday xo (((Kari)))
