i’m doing a study of people based on a craigslist posting.

yeah, it’s a little weird. maybe not as weird as it initially sounds, especially if you know me, but i’ll admit it’s a little bizarre.

it started the other night at work. a table came in after we closed and we still sat them. i waited on them. the guy was attractive. he was older than she was and more put together. she had a nice body but an odd face. she was inconsiderate and rude. it was obvious that he was older. she wasted a lot of time. so much time, in fact, that he became frustrated with her.

so i posted a craigslist missed connection. not in a romantic way; it was more of a category issue. i basically said that he was too attractive for her and she was indecisive and i thought he would’ve been with someone more assertive.

but i got a lot of responses. none of them fit the guy. i saw his name on his credit card (i only memorized the first name. i’m not THAT creepy) and nothing came about. except another craigslist posting. this time about why i received so many responses. it went a little something like this:

"A few days ago I posted a listing about a man who deserved a more assertive woman. The weird thing is I got a lot of responses, none of which were the person I encountered, but it made me curious about something. If so many of you are looking for a more assertive woman, or even just a different woman than the one you’re currently with, why are you still involved?"

i’ve received a lot of responses.

and this is how i’m finding out things about myself and humanity. it sounds like a stretch but it’s actually not. we’re all pretty similar at our core. most of us are more similar than we like to think we are. i’m also getting a lot of perspective. most of the answers mirror other answers.

i’m sure this isn’t really accurate. it’s mostly entertaining and allows me to get into someone’s head about things i find intriguing in myself. if that makes any sense.

so yeah, there’s that.
