Must-haves {for a new baby}

I’ve been trying to get this posted forEVER….


Just some things I’ve found to be SO HELPFUL & amazing to have for my almost 3-week old & me so far!!

First this phone app has been a life saver for me!

Not only does it help me to keep track of all the milk I’m pumping, it’s most helpful to keep track of when Cannon has fed.  Seriously time goes by so fast, I’ll think he just ate like an hour ago and my phone will send me a text "feeding time!" because it’s sends them to me every 2-2.5 hours  {it averages his feeding times} and I’ll get a bottle ready — So many times I’ve gotten the text and Cannon will start stirring for food like a few seconds later. You can also keep track of dirty/wet diapers {very helpful in those first few days!}  Love it. The "lite" version is free, but it’s a trial — get the full version for $3.50.

Also, since I’m exclusivly pumping this pump I’m renting from the hospital is great:

I can pump quickly, both sides at once.  But since it’s the only one I’ve tried, besides my hand pump {which works good on the go, like today when we were away all morning at Evan’s basketball tournament…} I’m sure others work well too. Actually I just found out my insurance will cover any brand new pump I purchase 100% I just have to find a distributor that works with my insurance — this makes me really happy! Yay Affordable Care Act!

This Boppy Lounger pillow my sister gave to me is letting me borrow…

has turned out to be something we use all the time!  He’s very comfy sitting in it, even napping for short bits on my bed while I’m next to him pumping.  This will be a go-to for baby shower gifts for sure!! I love it!

Medela Lanolin –


A MUST for brestfeeding/pumping… this stuff saved me in those first few days when my boobs were tore up from our breastfeeding troubles & really helped me heal fast.  My sister gave me some CVS brand lanolin and that stuff doesn’t even compare to this. This is so smooth & has almost no scent and isn’t sticky at all… the CVS stuff was SO sticky & smelled bad…..

{we have "Snugamonkey" line, but they make all different kinds & I’m sure they’re all equally as cozy. Cannon LOVES this.. he sleeps in it everynight, I have him nap in his crib in the day so he’s used to it a bit, but this saves us at night I think…he looks so cozy in it… sleeps at a bit of an angle. I think he feels like he’s being held.  Like his own little baby hammock.. 

JJ Cole Carseat cover.

A must in this COLD Iowa weather.  They make BundleMe carseat covers, but I’m glad I didn’t get that kind… the nurses at the hospital told us they’re not allowed to send babies home in a carseat that has any "extras" added to it {that didn’t come with the seat}, and the BundleMe wouldn’t of been allowed because it requires the seatbelts to be threaded through it. And this was fine because it only goes over the seat like a blanket. 
Munchkin Wipes Warmer


 
Another must have in this cold! One of Cannon’s most UNfavorite things is getting his diaper changed — this helps alot, sometimes I can sneak butt-wiping without him even noticing!  And other great baby shower item!!  OH! And this one is great because it has a nightlight. Cannon’s bed is right by my bed & this wipes case is on my night stand, the light is just the perfect amount of glow to turn on in the middle of the night and check on him 🙂
