Long weekend

It’s been a long week/end.  D took Wednesday through tomorrow off, so it’s been nice having him home.  We went to my in-laws cottage on the shore Wednesday through Friday, it was a nice little get away.  Thursday we took the kids to Hammonnassett State Park, they loved it.  And we really lucked out because it was an overcast day, so there really weren’t that many people there.  We stayed for almost 2hrs, they played in the sand and waded in the water.  D and I tossed around a football and helped the girls dig a hole to "wade" in.  Fun family time, it was really nice and much needed.

We started doing more updates at the rental.  We’ve decided (thanks to the inlaws suggestions) of just sheetrocking over the walls instead of pulling them down.  It’ll avoid a lot of mess, and save the brand new floors that we’d put in a couple months ago.  So I was relieved, it’s saving us a lot of time.  We’re hoping to have it ready by October 1st, no later than November 1st.

Our oldest has her first day of school tomorrow.  Second grade already, amazing how quickly time flies.  She’s excited, I’m happy that she’s looking forward to it.  Friday D and I took her to the school for a meet and greet with her teacher, who seems very nice.  Hopefully she won’t be too nice and let them get away with everything!  So, starting tomorrow things will be more on schedule here, I’m looking forward to that!

Hope everyone else is enjoying the long weekend.

Edited to add: Friday night D and I had a night out!  Our oldest had her first sleep over at a friends and my sister watched the two little ones so he and I could go out for his birthday.  We went to the casino.  Usually we walk out of there in the hole, but we walked out $4 ahead!  lol, we were happy about that even though it probably cost more than that in gas to get there, but it was a nice night out with just us.
