Been there; done that.

A Senior Citizen on an Uptown Bus

He edged his way to where the

lovely young woman was seated.

His eyes met hers, and in that

moment he designed a possibility.

Cocktails at the Carlyle,

Dinner at the Mark.

Suddenly, his sparce gray hair,

grew fuller and his liver spots

graciously took refuge.

Then the lovely young woman

rose to offer him her seat.

I have been reminded just how beautiful life is by the sunrises yesterday and today. I feel a physical jolt each time I view the beautiful colors of daybreak. I am lucky to live eight houses from the Atlantic Ocean. I can stand on the shore and squint and on especially clear days almost see the coast of France. There is nothing in between to obscure the view except the curvature of the horizon and a passing ship going out to sea. I live in a place surrounded by beauty. A narrow strip of land 9 houses wide with a two lane road as an eastern boundary and after crossing the road the ocean. To the west there is a lovely river that is the scene of spectacular sunsets. Except for the summer months it is an area that lends itself to meditation and quite enjoyment of natures’ gifts. Sunrise or sunset , which is more beautiful? It doesn’t matter ;enjoy both for they both are transitory

A friend of mine just called from New Orleans. He is down there on business but he has had problems being away and on an expense account . He tends to go on binges with drinking to excess and losing control of his behavior. He has joined a 12 step program and learned to call someone and rat himself out when he has an urge to drink. I was so glad he was able to reach me and honored that he called. I hope that his call helped him but it sure made my day better.

Problem followed problem at the Office today and yesterday. Dealing with them as they arose made for very busy and stressful days yet the coping with them also imparts it’s own satisfaction. When none of the problems were looking I was able to sneak out of the Office and lock the door behind me. I hope that they all have a nice night.

What a nice entry. I haven’t seen the daybreak over the Atlantic yet. Lots of sunsets over the Pacific, though. Glad you are there when your friends need you.–April M.
