On Naming Kids …

I just wanted to clear up a fact …

My ex boyfriend’s first name is and will forever be Aragorn. His mother read the books when she was pregnant with him and thought it would be a good name for him. Mothers are like that, not thinking about how the name will look in years to come. Yes, on his birth certificate it says Aragorn. He does a lot of explaining about his name, more so than one would think. He actually doesn’t care much for the LOTR books or movies.

Anyways, let’s talk about babies that have been born recently …

A friend of my mother’s named her daughter Noah. A coworker of mine recently had a baby girl whom she said just  looked like a Bailey to her. Unlike in past generations when changing a name was unheard of or rare, now it appears that our children will just have to learn to like their name until they’re 18 and presto they can become the Jane of tomorrow.

Mum and I got on the conversation of naming children when talking about a friend of mine who we saw this past weekend. One of us brought up the point that as a child all my stuff animals had birth certificates with their full name listed such as Herbert Zachariah Montague or Danica Elizabeth Montague. Those names are just off the top of my head, not real names of stuff animals. Lol. I only ever had two bears that had the same last name. It was a long process of finding the perfect name for my bear, not wanting to curse the bear with a name he or she couldn’t live with. This also happens when I do creative writing such as writing stories or fairy tales. I spend time working out first, middle, and last names for all important characters and minor characters get their personalized list of names. It’s just fun to see what combinations of names I come up with. I try to pick names that seem to fit my idea of the characters.

OH! Ed just asked me out on a date about a month in advance! Wow! Need more information, will dish on this topic later!

Love ya!

One of my relatives just had a daughter and they named her Noa. Alot of confusing looks when she tells them HER name. It is getting pretty bad with baby names..its insane.

Oddly enough, I’ve thought about baby names a good bit. Moreso for a girl than a boy. I think names really are tied to the personality a child develops into, in part anyway. So I’ve been trying to think of a name that’s strong, confident, and pretty, without being strange or trendy or cutesy. I can’t stand all the cutesy/trendy names nowadays. Ugh. I’m rambling. 😀
