Friday Fixes

Seems like I might start a new trend to use of the Ordered List HTML tag as the main content of diary entries. Or maybe not.

Things I found in my e-mail today that have been attended to:

One of the most irritating things that can happen to a programmer is when you fix a problem, test it out, see that it works fine, tell your user community it’s fixed. Followed by several thousand people trying it out, and politely yet firmly informing you that NO, it’s not fixed – what, are you hallucinating? The “don’t remind me again” subscription thingy falls into this category. Several people told me that no matter what I may think, it was not making the subscription reminder disappear. They were correct, and it has been fixed again, more, finally.
Irritating programmer trick #2 – you make something better, only to break something else. This was the case with lengthening the field for custom images on the Style screen – some diarists found that their Style screen wouldn’t load after that “improvement”. This has also been fixed.
A clever diarist noticed that if you tried to download your diary and selected a date range in which there was no actual diary entry – there was an error. This has also been fixed all better.
This is not a fix, but I finally went through and approved (or dis-) new interests that had been added in the last couple of weeks. Sorry this had been on the to-do list so long, but other things had to come first. So if you’re one of the people who has been waiting for that “ALF” or “Hoobastank” interest group to come online, today’s your day.

off topic: I just put my diary in chapters. Since I combined diaries the dates are out of order. Is there a way that we could move our diary entries around….sort of like how you have the chapters selection…move up, move down….something like that? Not a huge deal. I just thought it would be a handy thing to have. Thanks and thanks for your time, effort, and patience here.

*Edits note: HoobaSTANK not stink* BTW, a month or so ago, I added an interest named St. Louis Cardinals. You did create it and I did add it to my profile, but I noticed today it was gone. So I went ahead and resubmitted that request.

just wondering how come i can’t change my diary colours… problem started yesterday afternoon….

I’m getting a lot of http 500 (I believe it is) errors in the last 10 minutes or so. Both while accessing my diary, noting someone else (even though the note actually saved (on Scarlet Ibis’ diary) and while accessing other diarists’ entries. Just an FYI, is all.

Yes- just confirming- it’s an http 500 internal error that I’m getting.

dm…I can’t tell if this is an fod diary or an od diary, but… http://www.opendiary.com/entrylist.asp?authorcode=D219628 the person is taking other people’s entries and posting them in their diary.

I have tried contacting the report a problem link and even received a confirmation email that my message had been received earlier in the past week (Monday maybe). Whenever I sign on to my OD, my virus program identifies a Trojan Second Thought virus threat that enters my temporary internet files only when I visit Open Diary pages. Is there a fix or must I continue to avoid my OD to prevent virus

Thanks for fixing everything! You’re really good at it! (Not sarcastic) The OD community should be most thankful. And at least I am. Oh yeah, does your diary ever come up on random?

When I write in my diary it won’t let me copy and paist pictures anymore and it won’t let me changed font color of certain things in my diary..and now all my font is red instead of black..I don’t know what happend..i just like screwed up a couple days ago..Whats up with that? Is it doing it to everyone? NMB Please

I know that this will probably cause a lot of work, but, is there any way that you could add the option in downloading your diary so the download looks like it does online? I know it would be a much larger file to download, but I’d much rather be able to download that. Thanks Always, Robert

um. on user interests could there be a category for Everworld? It’s a book series.

I was wondering if youc an tell me or make this work where you can have someont take you off their fav list. I see a few people who put me on their fav list, but I don’t want to be. Is there a way to have me off it.

I’m still trying to upgrade and receiving the 1002 error message when I try and pay through the credit card method.

Also, I just have to comment, as luck would have it (if you could call it that) i’m listening to hoobastank right now. Interesting… I always thought that the name “hoobastank” reminded me of a dirty tuba player. Go figure *shrug* 🙂

Oh yes, one more thing (sorry lol) .. no hurry on the switching of authorcodes. Whenever you get a free moment is just perfect.

there is a diary you might want to check out… they are being really rude to chinese people and just non americans… the diary is “Jesus Christ!”

Ok, People have been complaing all over TOD about the the lack of not being able to delete entries. Another problem that has occured is that when you go back and change an entry to a public entry instead of private it keeps the number of private entries on your DD the same. For ex. you have 1 private entry, you change it and make it public, it still stays at 1. Reply if possible. Jessica

How do you add an image to your front page? Does it have to be from a website?

mef! was writing a note and the server went down. too many users?? but i pay for my diary.

I don’t know why, but brackets keep showing up in my entry. I have tried several times to remove them, only to save and see that they are still there. This is so frustrating! Please help.

Hoobastank kicks pants… I love that group! I’m OUTTA CONTROL! Anyways, this whole setup is quite impressive and I wanted to say thanks for supplying a free place for teens to speak freely. YOU ROCK!

I was looking into doing the open diary plus thing. i am 17 & dont have a credit card, but i have a checking account. i wanted to know if there was a way i could pay for it directly out of my checking account (no credit card or sending the money by mail). i hope this makes sence to you… -trysti-

Dm, my bestfriend and i have tried emailing, but the inbox is always to full. Would be as kind to have at my bestfriend’s notes at TOD. She’s had her diary for 4 years now. Is there a way to have private notes on individual diaries or is it just the whole diary? Sometimes I’d like to make notes private on one entry instead of privating them all – is there a way to do that?

Hi, I’m new to OD, so I don’t know where to send a question to? I attempted to put an image with one of my entrees, but when i clicked the button to do so, my anti-virus program said it was downloading a virus? So it, quarantined, and deleted it twice…but it happens everytime i try to click the “insert image” button. Any thoughts? Thank you!
