Favorite of…

Happy Friday,

A couple days ago, I added a link to the Favorites page which lets you see whose other Favorites lists you’re on (or the owner of that Favorites list is on). Remember, this only works with diaries that have their Favorites list set to public.

I asked for suggestions for the name of this thingy – my name for it was pretty lame. I got a LOT of suggestions, and some were actually good. However, most were too long to be practical (like “they like me, they really like me”, and “diarists who might like me and I didn’t even know it”). Anyways, two diarists suggested “a favorite of” or “favorite of…”. I like this – and it’s short to boot, so I’ve changed the name.

ADDED LATER: I’ve also moved the link for this from the tiny sort links on the right, over to the more-visible left-side menu on the left (duh). Many people were having trouble finding it, I think. Also – maybe I wasn’t clear – this option shows up for everybody, but it will only list people who have you on their Favorites, whose Favorites are set to public.

what the heck does “to boot” mean, anyways?

to boot-(you know how to say it)-to kick in the hind end, to be dumped offline just as you finished a full character limit entry, a finale. now ya know. now tell me..what does dinklesnort mean?

Ok here’s my question about “Favorite Of:” I’m quite sure I’m on more than just two peoples favorite lists. So do those authors have to have public lists as well in order for me to know I’m on their list? If so, then I honestly disagree with the method of use. I can understand making one’s own list public to gain access to their “favorites of” list. There should be an easier way to code it.

Hi! I have a suggestion. It has nothing to do with this topic, but thought I’d give it to you anyway. How about giving a diarist the opportunity to delete something that they have put in a diary circle if they want. I noticed the other day after posting an entry I did it 3 x by accident. Thought it would have been nice to delete at least 2 of those. Or all if I wanted to go Faves Only.

I have no idea what to boot means. Anyways I guess i wont be able to see who has me on their favorites list. I thought my diary was on public because I can get notes from anyone who leaves me a note. If for some reason I am not on public can you tell me how to fix it so I can see the list. Also did you or diary staff get my problem I had. If so how come no response back.

To boot means “in addition” or “besides”, and is derived from an Old English term for “something that is additionally advantageous”.

Would you consider adding this nifty feature I needed recently. Time stamp our entries. I recently went through two life altering experiences (wait maybe still going through both) and wrote multiple entries a day as part of my healing and processing and now that I look back I wish I knew what time I wrote them. Yeah I believe strongly in personal responsiblity ,but you almost die then your

husband who just said in August that he loved you forever and always, leaves you for another woman a week after you get out of ICU because of something you said eight years ago.. well you know then one might not recall to do their own time stamping of entries. Just a suggestion. Thanks

ok I get that. But, speaking for a good deal of diarists (both OD and OD+), there should be an option to maintain a private favorites list and still allow other people to know that they’re on your favorites list. It could be an OD+ feature (something to sell OD+).

Well, since I’m going to Favorites Only tomorrow and you occasionally note me – you’re on my Favorites List now. I bet you’re just thrilled! LOL

the “favorites of” link isn’t working in my diary- however it was working earlier today, is there something going on with it?

I found it a lot easier to find the other link when it was on the right. Oh well.

I apologize ahead of time for reporting this bug on your diary, i would use the help feature but i can’t, that’s why i’m doing this. The bar that’s supposed to show up at the top of the screen with diary options doesn’t appear for me anymore. It stopped after the site was down for a few days awhile back, and i’m just curious why i don’t have it anymore. Again, sorry, and thanks.

In my opinion, i think it would be better to have the link in the ‘favorites’ drop down menu at the top. Just a suggestion 🙂

Hey you 🙂 I’m sorry to bother you with this. I just wanted to make sure you knew I didn’t intentionally spam the Addictions & Recovery circle. I hit the wrong damned entry and then clicked on the RIGHT entry twice, hoping to stop it from going through. Needless to say, I ended up with three entries there. I apologize. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t in danger of deletion. Thanks 🙂

I have no idea where the expression “to boot” came from, but darn…..that’s a good question.

heyy how did you get your diary so cool? It seems like the only thing that I can do for mine is change the font and font color..It would be greatly appreaciated if you could help me out and perhaps coach me step by step on how to edit and complete my opendiary…my name is EmmS2Cute thank you, *Emily Majeau*

I tried emailing at the three diffrent email addresses that was listed for problems and all the emails got sent back to me, so once again my diary is Spanish Lullaby and about a week or two ago I sent in a money order to upgrade to OD+ and I was just wondering if you received it and when my diary would be upgraded. I had a suggestion for improvement of the site. When you are in the screen to write an a entry maybe you could make a box come up asking if you are sure you want to cancel. That way if you hit cancel on accident you wouldn’t lose your entry. I know a friend of mine hit cancel on accident and lost her whole entry. I hope that makes sense to you, it is just a suggestion. 🙂 Thanks.

So its supposed to be on the left side menu links? Named Favorite of? I cant seem to see it on my OD, does this mean no one who might have me on their favorites has them public or I just am not on anyones favorite at all?

I like this option….very nice! but hardly anyone puts up a public favourites list. If you can, you should have FAVORITE OF if its private or public.

That is cool about the fav of list that you put on diary. Now I finally was able to see the list. I noticed not many people have me on their list as I had thought. After rereading this I know understand why I have the list I do.

Hi DM, I’m really hoping you can help me with my problem.A couple of months back..I lost quite a few of my diary entries.I have tried emailing my problem to the technical staff but to date have received no replies.Also, now, whenever I write new entries..notes from a long time ago will automatically pop up..could you please help??Thank You and have a Merry Christmas..

I just changed my journal access to Favorites Only, but I would prefer that my not-favorites didn’t know that that’s why they don’t have access anymore. Can we maybe figure out a way to hide that information from them? Sort of like AIM’s blocking mechanism where it looks (to the person you blocked) just like you logged off. I don’t want to offend anyone.. Thank you.

that’s a great thing, thanks… i have two suggestions for theme of the week, ones i would like to write about, but are silly to just write about for no reason— what modern convenince could you not live without? AND what do you consider to be the greatest invention of all time? if you like them, i’ll happily supply more, of course you’d have to add me to your payroll, j/k

well, when i go to it and it says that im on no one’s list….but my gf has me on her list…and other people to do…so what is wrong with it? -zaC
