Answers about the Name Thing
A couple people have asked questions that need to be addressed about the new name feature on the diaries (see the previous entry if you don’t know what I’m talking about).
First, this new feature does NOT expose your diary pages to search engines. The directory name that takes you to your diary is a virtual directory – it does not actually exist, so can not be seen by search engines or any other program of that type. So, your privacy is still assured – this is only a convenience for you.
Second, it will not give access to a private diary or a members-only diary (if that access wouldn’t normally exist). If somebody somehow knows your private diary name (or members-only diary name) and types it in, they will get the standard private diary page message, saying that they are not allowed to view this page.
Oh, and one more thing – if you change your diary name, the feature will work automatically with the new name.
Hope that clears things up a little.
