OD and the future

I just wanted to post a quick entry, since you will surely hear about this message from your OD friends – I have just posted a statement over at OD about the advantages of OD+ and the possibilities for the future of OD.

You can read my statement, and draw your own conclusions – I just wanted to be straightforward with everybody about the possible future paths that lay ahead for OD+ and OD. I think the future of many advertising-supported websites is in serious jeopardy.

I understand that this will raise concerns with OD members, and it may or may not increase the number of people who are coming to this site. Just rest assured that my number one priority is to keep OD+ just as it is – a growing, thriving site. In the weeks that we have been here, we’ve had our ups and downs – but I feel that this has already become among the best communities on the Internet.
