Video Games
So I just read a news article on Yahoo!
“Scientists say video games are adictive”
Well… duh! I could have told you that. lol For the mas population of men (boys) video games are supremely addictive. I mean, why do you think the video game industry is such a huge market.
Now, I was going to just say “duh” and leave it. But when I saw the article, a friend of mine was in the office with me (I’m at work) and she said, “Well, I disagree. I like video games, but I wouldn’t say they’re addictive.”
So I had to include the part about it only being for men (which isn’t all together true. I know several women who find video games just as addicting as I… I mean men do. lol)
While on this same topic, let me put in my two cents worth about video game violence. All these people, suing companies for video game violence, saying the violence led their children to commit they horrible crimes. You know… IT’S ONLY A VIDEO GAME! If there is one thing my father taught me is that there is a very thick line between reality and fiction.
For example. I was older than most when the Power Rangers came out. Now I’m sure if I had been a touch younger (in elementary) I would have been “WHOA! I wanna do stuff like that. Let’s play power rangers.” But I wouldn’t have proceeded to kick the shit (‘scuse my language) out of my friends just cause I saw it on tv. Slightly silly.
The things you see in movies, tv, video games… Its NOT REAL. I can’t stress that enough. Some may argue that it is a fine line between reality and fiction… and I say, it maybe “fine” but its BRIGHT GLOWING FLORECENT BLUE! (I would say pink, but that’s not very manly… is it. lol) Oh whatever. BRIGHT GLOWING FLORECENT PINK! (I think pink stands out a bit better.) I think that if kids are acting out in this way, it may not be the parents’ fault completely, but I think something was seriously missing from their upbringing…
Speaking of pink, one of the people in my dorm… oops! I mean “Residential Hall” (yeah… thats what I thought). Anyway, a guy I met in my hall, Donovan, is really cool. When I first met him he seemed alittle weird, but he reminded me of the crowd I used to hang out with in High School.
Anyway, I should talk about how this ties into before. He loves pink! You know how Adidas makes many colors for all their shoes, well Donovan would by the pink ones! Its great! He has a pink coat! His computer chair is PINK! It’s fantastic! Cracks me up.
But yeah, that was a bit of a tangent…
Well, this entry is turning out to be pretty good. I was having a bad day yesterday (to put it mildly) and this kinda makes me feel better. 🙂
Anyway, I should get back to work. Talk to ya later!
