Managed bike again
I went on the bike again. I managed 4.5 miles in 17 minutes! I was able to do it quicker and for just a bit longer. I’m proud of myself!! I read somewhere that I needed to do 4 miles on the bike in 15 minutes to burn enough calories to lose 2 pounds a week. LOL anwyas I thought that was a good goal to set while I’m on the bike… to do at least 4 miles and try to do it in 15 minutes. It took me about 15 and a half minutes today 😀
I bought a scale and weighed myself on it. 🙁 It went all the way around before it stopped. I’m now 19 stone (calculated online to be 266!) How can I weigh so much. I played around with the bmi calculater online and it said that according to my height and weight my bmi is 78% but if I went off of height and waist size it was 48%?? How was there such a big differance? Anyways I played around a bit… and couldnt find what a ‘ideal’ healthy weight would be. One said I needed to lose 121 the other told me I needed to be at MOST 125 (loss of 141). *shrugs* So I decided that being half the weight I am now would be a good LONG term goal. That would be 133 pounds. I also decided to set a short term goal of 14lbs… one stone. I’m working on getting the tickers up. I had great satifaction on making sure the ticker moves 😀 For now they motivate me so I’m going to use them as much as I can lol with out being too obsessive.
48 is correct for your BMI. I’m not sure where 78 came from — maybe a mixup of metric and imperial units? It actually isn’t a percentage but rather a way to determine the ideal weight range for a given height. I think 133 is a probably good goal, and it sounds like you’re off to a great start!

Oh, I know. The 78 is probably your waist to height ratio, which is a different way of calculating healthy size. It is a little more accurate in muscular individuals because BMI doesn’t take muscle mass into consideration. HOWEVER, the goal for a healthy ratio is around 50 for waist to height ratio rather than around 25 for BMI. Hence the discrepancy. Cheers!

well done on the bike! i wouldn’t pay too much attention to how far/fast you have to cycle to lose a certain amount of weight because you’ll also be burning calories doing other stuff 🙂 good luck!
