Reservations!

So today Travis called up the chapel where we will be getting married in Vegas, and made our reservation! So now we have an exact date and time, January 15th, 2005, at 4 PM. This is so very exciting, I am practically bouncing off the walls here!!! I love how we have been so totally untraditional and have done our own thing. So many people know that we have been talking plans and everything, but hardly anyone expected us to have this plan in place so soon. And now we do. All the ceremony planning is done for us, we just give our opinions and it’s all taken care of. No hassle, no massive expenses, and we can save our money for other things. Besides, in the end our commitment and piece of paper will be no different 🙂

In case anyone is curious, it is going to be at Cupid’s Wedding Chapel (www.cupidswedding.com – for some reason this isn’t recognizing the link). Simply beautiful, and while they have their chintzy choices, we are obviously opting for their classier packages. No Elvises or anything like that for us….One very interesting thing though: since I was a kid I was a huge Guns ‘N Roses fan, and when the video for “November Rain” came out, I used to say that that was going to be my wedding dress. Well, unfortunately it won’t be, since it was custom made for $8000 back then (and certainly much more now), but Travis found out that Axl Rose got married at this same chapel back in 1990. Of course our wedding will last a lot longer, lol.

One big decision made, and from here many of our other plans will fall into place. Now that we have the date we can start seriously looking at flights, hotel, etc. Also looks like our wedding size doubled too, as we are most likely to have, along with our two attendants, his parents, his sister and brother-in-law. Unfortunately, and it pains me, my mom won’t be able to be there; it’s complicated….

Topic change….

This weekend was absolutely fun! We both needed a fun and stress-free time to make up for the long hectic work weeks. And we certainly accomplished that. Travis worked on Friday night, so I was picked up by Terry who happened to be in Indy. Sadly Friday was pretty much shot activity-wise but okay catching-up-on sleep-wise. Saturday we went furniture browsing, and ended up getting a sweet deal on our mattress for our new bed. I have a full now and it’s a bit small for both of us, so we have to upgrade to a queen. And at one going out-of-business sale, we found a queen pillowtop with memory foam for just over $500. Very nicely priced, considering that we priced the same one at other places (like Sears) for 1000-1600. Why are mattresses so damn expensive? Geez!…It’s our first major purchase together…We are storing it at his grandmother’s house until January so it’s also out of the way.

Saturday was also a big game for Purdue, as they continued on their unbeaten streak and are now the #5 team in the nation. Of course my ‘Canes will have to come through and win Thursday against Louisville. My ‘Canes are #3 but both teams are undefeated, and should we lose, we will drop below Purdue, and that is just unacceptable ;p…Then we took Travis’s parents out to dinner to run the plan by them so we could start making everything official.

The night was capped off with much drinking and dancing in an early celebration of Travis’s 25th. It was me, him, and three buddies, so I was the lone girl 🙂 It’s sad that I can’t spend his official birthday with him, but as he said we got to celebrate it, and it’s the last one we have to spend like this. Plus he loved the Purdue #15 Drew Brees jersey I got for him too.

Sunday brought church, the Colts, a trip to the airport to drop off Terry, and more furniture browsing. I had a scary moment where I thought I had lost my cell phone and I was going ballistic…we had gone into so many places that I had no idea where I would start looking, and I was already thinking, crap, I’m gonna need a new number, etc! Thankfully when we got home I had a message that it had been found at one of the furniture places we had gone to, the first one even, and had been held for me to pick up. I had to go all the way down to Greenwood today to get it, and it had no charge when I got it back, but at least I only lost it for one day and no one used it. That was bad enough, it’s as much of a lifeline as my computer is. That may have been the one bad spot all weekend but since it was found then maybe it wasn’t bad at all – just scary and annoying. It must have fallen out of my purse cell pocket when we were flopping down to test beds and I didn’t notice. Note to self, be more careful.

Parting thought: is October almost half over already? Didn’t we just start?!

PS. if anyone wants to see pics of my dress or tiara, let me know and I will email!

Hahaha, I love the fact you’re getting married at the same chapel as Oral Sex. Was that to Stephanie Seymour? Did you know he’s from Lafayette, Indiana? Congrats. I hope Purdue loses.
