£1.50 per minute

okay. i have twenty-four hours to do this philosophy essay. i didn’t want my life to degenerate into this mess again, like last term (i.e. three essays in 48 hours) but oh well. i understand the concept blah blah blah. i’ve just got to do a bit of reading and then write it out (but it’s never that simple, is it?)

i went to my last sociology tutorial of the year (damn these compulsory electives). i was going to have a look at the end of term essay questions before i went, but i’ve lost my booklet and claire wasn’t in so i could nab hers. and the sodding tutorial was all about the essays! so i had to stare at the table the whole time and i think i was the only one who wasn’t directly asked which essay i was doing. phew. i didn’t want to leave on bad terms with my (very attractive) sociology tutor. damn.

i got a text last night from ‘i fancy u’ (cringe) and the text read something like ‘hi! someone fancies you! to find out who ring.. (etc).’ but at the very end of the message i noticed 150pm, which i guessed to be £1.50 per minute. so i pressed ‘delete.’ does anyone know is these are genuine or if they’re just some fake person pretending to fancy you? i never usually get junk texts, so it was a bit strange.

on the subject of people fancying me (not all that often, mind) – claire’s brother was going to invite me to his grad ball at leeds university. ha! no. he’s a nice bloke though. the first night i met him he declared i was to be his future wife. but the cheeky bastard knows i’m spoken for. so he’ll be going to the grad ball with his sister instead, if he remains dateless.

right, i’m off for some dinner. ooh, i had four pancakes last night. they were delicious.

Hope you get your essay done.. I’m sure it can’t take a whole 24 hours. You’ll be fine.. Philosophy drives me round the bend – I can’t bear things which have no answer. My mum did her PHD in philosophy too, so there’s a lot of it hanging round the house 🙂 I think those texts are just junk.. and £1:50 a min! Do they think we’re made of money?? xxxx

Maybe it’s like the junk email that I’ve gotten a couple of times from crushlink.com – they tell you someone’s got a crush on you, but they won’t tell you until you enter email addresses for 10 of your friends, so they can tell THEM someone has a crush … etc., etc. ‘Tis a scam, I say.

I found the easiest way to do an essay when I was a student was to simply write a single line stating what would comprise a paragraph. And then another line summarising the next paragraph point. That way, I wrote the essay without all the blathering – then just constructed the thing one paragraph at a time at my leisure. Kind of like eating biscuits. But without the biscuits.

Good luck with the essay. I always leave these things to the last minute too. I’m sure you’ll be fine (or you’ll get an extension, either way…) As for checking your email status. If you’re on AOL you can just look at your sent email select the one you’re checking and there’s a status button which will tell you magically if it’s been read and when but it only works for AOL to AOL mail.

Oops, I’ve got an essay to do too, forgot about that. Good luck.Grrr, junk mail, junk email and now junk texts too, it’s scandalous…maybe someone does fancy you though, you should ring the number. Then sue them if it turns out to be a scam.

That’s what i always say ‘i won’t leave it till the end next time’ but i always do…not good really. Having said that, last term an essay I left right till the very last minute somehow managed to get me 75%. Although I did do loads of reading and preparation beforehand… Hope you’ve managed to do it!

24 hours to do an essay? That is most definitely doable.. hope it went well 😀 And those ‘I fancy you’ things are silly.. it’s quite worrying that there are people in the world who would actually ring up to find out who fancies them, though. When quite clearly, it starts off with person being told that they’re fancied. They then list the names of everyone they know to see if they can find out

who fancies them. So everyone they’ve listed is sent a text saying that someone fancies them.. they ring up, do the same thing, and it just goes and goes. But anyway, onto nicer things.. Pancakes. Yes. xxxxx
