Building My Company From Scratch

Today I still feel kind of disoriented in what I’m doing. Probably because I’m working on two projects, well kind of three. I have written another children’s song for my Lizzie Timewarp youtube channel and am working on the illustrations for that video because it will also be a picture book.

I’m still in the process of getting A Big Five House Publishing Inc all set up. I’m determined not to use one penny of debt to build this company so everything that has been done thus far has been paid for from my personal savings. I got the isbn account set up yesterday, and the bank account set up on Monday.

I don’t really dare to spend any more of my savings because I have to balance this out with also being able to pay personal expenses for the next year while I get this company generating an income. I may not receive a paycheck for a while. At least not until our first book gets released. So, I need to generate an income to pay for the next phase of my company. I currently have an 11-book series I wrote from 2012 to 2017. I am going to bundle that and sell it as a boxed set on Kindle.

Another thing I can do is continue to put content up on both my Youtube channels because monetization from those will be invested in my publishing company.

The reason I am not even trying to get any kind of business loans is because my experiment is to see if I can build a company from scratch without going into debt.

The reason I’m not even applying for grants is because most of those require a company to be in operation for 24 months before applying. Not to mention they always tend to come with strings attached and if anyone has ever worked with authors, you know that authors themselves can be demanding at times so to have to deal with grant overlords demands of what can and must be published, I just honestly don’t have the time nor energy to deal with.

In a worst case scenario, my company will fail. In a best case scenario, it will grow and thrive and be a great retirement plan.

I hope the company is greatly successful!  You deserve it!
