The Quietest Christmas of All
It was a good day; unlike any other Christmas we’ve had–not that other years were not good!! It’s just this year was different. Kind of a “lazy Christmas”. This year we didn’t do a big turkey dinner, or even a tree this year. We didn’t do the tree last year either. In fact, this year, we gave our tree away (kind of by accident). The fire code in the building prevents live xmas trees and we saw a tenant bring in a live tree on the monitor, so my husband informed them that the building fire code doesn’t allow live trees. The guy was disppointed and I felt bad that they’d spent $35 on a tree they couldn’t use (I think he got his money back after tho), so I suggested to my husband that we loan them ours for this year since we weren’t going to use it. But my husband gave it to them instead, so at least we have more space in the closet now lol.
But this year we also didn’t do gifts really. My husband got me one thing that I really needed and I gave him a DVD recorder that he really needed to make disks to send to his mother.
So, a few of the tenants gave us gifts and of course we opened them as soon as we got them, so we didn’t really have presents today. We also didn’t do a big turkey and instead opted for TV turkey dinners. We hadn’t had them in years, and let’s just just say, next year I’m getting some kind of turkey or something lol. Also, on Sunday, a former tenant brought over a real turkey dinner for us, complete with mashed potatoes and turnip and gravy.
So basically, our Christmas was really spread out this year.
Today, my Christmas consisted of writing a song first thing in the morning and finishing the audio and video after lunch (bacon and eggs for lunch). Then I talked to my sister for a couple hours, then Nick for three hours. After our frozen dinner, we had cookies for dessert (because we ate the pumpkin pie on Saturday lol –we’re worse than kids I guess lol).
It was the weirdest Christmas ever, to be honest. We each basically did our own thing all day. Tomorrow we have to show an apartment.
I think I will buckle down and try to muster up the whatever-it-is to have some kind of a real New Year’s Eve.
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope everyone had a great day!
