Session 1: 10/23/24
The town of Aligros is a total dump. Its really quite heartbreaking. I’m not surprised that it isn’t on my festival schedule as the town is in total ruins. It’s certainly not a destination town for the wealthy but it is the sort of town where I would expect to find vampires lurking about. Maybe that is the town’s problem, vampires. I’ll have to come back when I have time to go investigate and go hunting. With my skills, I bet I could help make this town better.
When I arrived at the Gilded Kestrel tavern I was shocked to see that it was the only building in this Gods forsaken town that was pristine. The building is very well tended and clearly a focal point in this town. It doesn’t fit with anything else and it concerns me. The upkeep on this one building must be expensive. It makes me wonder, who is fronting THAT bill?
I meet the barkeep, Griff Flintlock, and he directed me to a table in the back where some of my childhood friends, Cas and Flour were seated. Rags was hiding in the shadows, per usual. I let him believe I didn’t notice him, but I totally did. I can’t believe how everyone has grown! Cas looks like a total badass now, and Flour, well, she’s still as sweet as ever. Then Sunshine walked in and I couldn’t believe just how overly pompous he looked. He’s a noble now! With all the fancy bells and whistles, raised by Elves and everything. Damn… He’s changed so much and is pretty pretentious. I really hope that mask he wears isn’t his true face because, I’ve missed my best friend.
As I thought, Rags was the one who summoned us, he is always so secretive and weird, so this is totally his sort of thing. He never quite told us why we were there but I’m sure he will get on with it soon enough.
Apparently he had asked the barkeep to find us all for some “mysterious” reason. Rags is just like that.
The odd part was that he seems to have some sort of sway in this dump of a town. He has this coin that looks really expensive, like a secret talisman, or family crest coin. Knowing him, he probably stole it. I really hope he didn’t steal it…I don’t condone that sort of thing.
As payment for finding us, Rags said we had to go help this goblin at a brewery with a bad rat problem. Normally I avoid killing animals unless its necessary, but rats are never good for business and it seemed like a pretty simple task. This place was definitely not a nice as the tavern. The goblin (Hobbs) that owns the brewhouse was not happy to see us. He was pretty cranky and clearly didn’t want us there but then Rags flashed that fancy coin of his the Goblin seemed…afraid? I don’t know what the hell that is about but I am going to ask him about it when I get him alone next. Somehow I don’t think he will share his secrets with everyone, but maybe I can persuade him. I really hope he didn’t steal it…They both made a point of mentioning that Griff wasn’t someone to be trifled with so I’ll have to ask about that as well. This town is so strange and secretive.
The brewery was flooded and there were a lot of rats. Pretty boring stuff but it was fun to be with the old gang again. Cas and I decided to compete on who could kill the most rats and, not surprisingly, I won. Ok, it was a pretty close game but she AND Rags came close to beating me! Rags! I couldn’t resist showing off a bit after all these years away from them but we managed to find the rat repellant and start placing it all around the brewery.
I have no idea what to expect from Rags next but I’m having fun with the whole crew again. Bring it on.
