Ah, the joys of parenting…not!
It is now 7:00am the calm after the storm…
I woke up @ 6:15am to go to the little mommies room and I notice it’s awful quiet in the house. Cause usually when my 4 children are getting ready for school there sleepy grunts, arguing for bathroom time and my 12 year whining cause she can’t perfect her hair.
Then it hit me; my kids must’ve over slept! Now they have to be walking out the door by 6:55am in order to make it to their bus stop on time or they will have to walk 1 1/2 miles to get to school. Damn the public transportation system!! (just as a side note this is one reason why I need a vehicle.)
So I start running around screaming like an army sargent trying scare the sleep out of them and get them moving. I swear kids don’t seem to care about these things. So we had to do a revised bathroom schedule which of course made my 12 year daughter freak out cause she didn’t have enough beauty time so she started to cry (I think she’s pre-menstral). My 14 year old son is looking dazed at his alarm clock trying to figure out why it didn’t go off. At this point I don’t care WHY it didn’t go off just get ready!!
My 8 year old daughter is trying to sneak back to bed with one of her famous "tummy aches". Yeah right like I’m going to buy that when she made it clear all this week she didn’t want to go to school on friday. She now hates gym. And that is only cause some kid last friday said she was skinny enough to be the bat when they play baseball. Ok well she is a bit on the thin side. She should be glad she has her dad’s genes and not mine!
Then there is my 6 year Noni. She is the try to be peace maker of the family. She sees that I’m getting stressed so instead getting ready she comes over to where I’m sitting outside the bathroom with a stopwatch and starts massaging my shoulders and back!!! I try not to yell at Noni. No one yells at Noni. Not because I play favorites or anything it’s just that Noni lives to please people. She is straight A student. And I believe it’s just because she knows that makes me happy. I can ask her the most dreaded of chores and she will do it with a smile. Then she’ll ask me if that made me happy cause she did it. And if she even thinks I’m mad at her she will cry for hours. So instead of screaming at her I as gently as I possibly can muster ask her to get ready for school.
So I finally them dressed and their got hair done & my son starts getting out ingredients for PANCAKES!!! Dude what is on his mind??? It’s now like 6:47am and he is trying to make pancakes?!?!?! Boy if you don’t grab a breakfast hot pocket and get out of my house!!
Well they left the house at 6:54am…..All I have to say is Thank God It’s Friday.
I’m going back to bed before my 21month old wakes up.
good morning.
