Last ride of the season

As of this past weekend, I have completed my last coaster trip of the year with a visit to Kings Dominion in Virginia. This is the time I will start be looking into where I plan on going next year. That said, I had a wonderful day at the park. The weather was great – not a cloud in the sky and not too warm. I met up with a friend and we spent the morning riding the coasters we wanted to ride and some other rides as well. But the best part of the day was not only having met up with the one friend but running into friends I hadn’t seen in many years. And yes, I got a few rides on the Rebel Yell (which was re-branded with the lame moniker “Racer 75” by the park a few years ago, but it will always be the Rebel Yell to us die hard coaster fans). It was really flying once the sun went down, and was very much the way I remembered it from past visits. But of course without my cousin’s snide remark about tossing his cookies. Once the night fell, we went thru a couple of the haunted houses and continued to ride coasters. I’d say I ended up saving the best for last, as this was my best coaster trip of the season.

I also found out that my roller coaster club is having its spring conference at Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens. This will give me the chance to ride two new coasters (one being built at each park this fall and winter) and add to my total count. Which I have no clue as to what that is at. Last I checked I had ridden over 250 different roller coasters, but this was years ago. One of these days when I’m bored I’m going to sit down and re-do my count. Then my friend mentioned going to Dollywood. I’ve not been there in many years either. Plus, we may take a trip to Carowinds next year. That last one would give me the chance (well, my husband and I) to make a side trip to Charleston where I could walk across that monster bridge down there. Where there is a will, there’s a way. There seems to be some touristy stuff around the bridge so that will give me an excuse to go there. I’ve never seen a bridge like that up close and on foot, so that is something I would be looking forward to.
