Canada he we are!!!!
So this week has been a bit trying for us, but it is getting better. Tuesday, just a few hours before we had to leave for the airport, Nina (my dog that lives with my parents) attacked my dog Sadie. We had taken Sadie outside to go to the bathroom and so we put Nina in my mom’s room. When we brought Sadie back in, she was visiting with my friend DB, and my mom went to go into her room to get something and forgot Nina was in there. Nina came out of that room like a bat out of hell and bit a chunk out of Sadie’s leg. She had to be taken to the ER to get stitches. Because of this, she was unable to fly with us, and because she couldn’t stay with my parents for obvious reasons, she is being boarded at the animal hospital. The airlines won’t let her fly until the stitches are out so she has to stay there for two weeks. I can’t even explain how hard this was on me. It was bad enough having to say goodbye to my family and friends, but then for my dog to have to go the hospital and then not being able to come with us just about gave me a nervous breakdown. Now we have to wait and see how Sadie’s recovery goes and wait for the vet’s okay so she can fly here and be reunited with us.
So that was my Tuesday afternoon, but the so far the rest of the week has gone much better. The flight wasn’t too bad, but there was some turbulance, so Dave was a bit nervous. I don’t like to fly either, but it didn’t bother me much besides when I was trying to change Keira in that tiny bathroom! We got into Seattle about 10:30p.m., and then got to our hotel around midnight or so after getting all our luggage and picking up the rental car. We grabbed a snack at the convience store in the lobby of the hotel and then crashed around one in the morning. I didn’t sleep to well that night probably due to the stress of that day. Yesterday we got up and had some breakfast at the hotel, and then headed out to Pike’s Market in Seattle. There are so many shops and restaurants down there! It was really neat to see, but we didn’t stay long because I was still dragging butt from the day before and I just wanted to get to Dave’s mom’s house. We drove across the border without trouble, but they did have me go into the office and file some papers. I now have a temporary resident card that’s good for a year while I’m applying for permanent status.
Today we went and got my name on the bank account Dave had opened when he was here for the interview, and sometime soon I’ll need to get my driver’s license changed over to a BC license. Tonight we’re supposed to go out with Dave’s dad, but we haven’t heard anything from him yet so I don’t know what’s going on. Dave’s mom is having a blast with the baby and it’s been nice to sit a take a break from chasing her.
Tomorrow Dave has his first meeting with KPMG and then they have a golf outting afterwards. Dave’s mom and I are going to go bumming around a bit tomorrow to pass the time while Dave’s gone. This weekend if it’s nice we’re going to go to Harrison Lake. The weather has been a bit cool, so we might postpone it until it’s warmer, but we’ll just have to see.
Keira is enjoying herself with exploring all her new surroundings and everytime I ask her, " Keira are you in Canada?" she says "Noopppe". lol She’s so funny. Well, I’m going to go and see what everyone’s doing downstairs and I’ll have to catch up with all of you soon.
Good to see an update from you! I am sorry to hear about your dog though, that really stinks! Will Sadie be able to fly alone? I don’t know how all that works with animals. Hope you get her back soon! It is good to hear you got there otherwise smoothly!
