Another email

Dave received another email from the tax partner at KPMG last Friday. He said him and a manager of the tax department want to have a phone conversation with him very soon. He said the other man was out of the office until today, so he’d write him an email today to set that up. I’m excited. I really want Dave to get a different job because I really hate when he’s gone traveling. I know that with his current job he’s going to be gone most of February and August ever year. Nothing to get around that. If he gets this job at KPMG he will still have to travel a bit, but not as much. Dave is going to discuss all aspects of this job with them when they speak on the phone so we know for sure what’s going on.

I have to admit if he does get the job, telling my family is going to be really hard. My mom knows basically all that’s been going on, but she’s in denial of it all. My dad knew that Dave had been inquiring about the possibility of moving back to Canada, but I haven’t really said anything about him getting emails from this company or anything. The rest of my family knows nothing. I didn’t want to stir up and hostility towards Dave. My family loves Dave, but I think when they hear about this, they’re not going to be happy. I want they to support our decision and not try to talk us out of it. Anytime we even talked about moving in general my grandma always said how it’s so much cheaper to live around here. Yeah well that’s because there aren’t very many good jobs around here! Dave could stay with his company now and eventually he’d make really good money, but that’s down the line. I’m not saying we’re poor now because we aren’t, but life isn’t cheap and if we want to have more kids and move out to a township where the schools are better we need better than “not poor”, you know? My relatives just don’t understand that because they’ve lived here their entire lives. I like the thought of moving somewhere new and different. I don’t like the idea of leaving my family, but I know I can’t have it both ways. I guess I shouldn’t worry about anything until we know for sure what’s going on with this whole job situation anyway, but being that I’m home all day I have time to think about these things.

I think I’ll go read some faves now.

I hope he gets this job. I think it’d be a good change for you guys, albeit away from your family. If he does get the job and the “talk” becomes necessary I hope it goes well. You’ll just have to go in with the attitude that you’re adults and you need to do what’s best right now. :
