It looks like Canada is in our future.
Dave’s dad’s accountant has been speaking with Dave the past month or so about opportunities in Canada. He wrote Dave and email yesterday to tell him he had just had lunch with a friend of his that just so happens to be the managing partner at KPMG (he told Dave he scheduled this lunch so he could tell him about Dave’s qualifications and interest in moving back to Canada.) KPMG is one of the largest accounting firms in the world. Dave sent his resume to the partner there just last night and he has already responded back, and they have set up a phone conversation for next week. Dave’s dad’s accountant is a very well known man in British Columbia and told Dave this would be a wonderful opportunity. Dave’s mom also knows someone who works at KPMG and he spoke highly of the firm, saying that starting pay is excellent and they have many perks as well. Yes, it all sounds too good to be true right now, so we’re staying grounded and we’ll just see what happens after they have their phone conversation. KPMG has many offices in British Columbia, so Dave and I would be able to stay in the area we want.
I’m excited, but scared at the same time, you know? I’m thrilled that Dave may find a great job in the area we want to live in, but I still think about how hard it is going to be to leave my family. Even mentioning to them what’s been going on has gotten them upset/angry and I hate to think how it’s going to be if we really do go through with this. I hope this works out because I know that Dave is really excited, but he too is not counting his chickens before the hatch just yet either.
I guess that’s all that’s been happening here. My back had been bugging me again and I’m starting to get fed up. I really think I should go to the doctor’s, but they are such a pain in the butt. It seems like I have to go to them a dozen times before they find the right solution to my problem. Ah well, good night.
sorry your back is bothering you.

I’ll be thinking of you. Moving away from your family is hard, but at the same time this could be an incredible opportunity! This will be a rough decision. We moved 20 mins from my family and it was a big deal. : I hope your back feels better soon.

doctors are useless with backs – when i was in agony last year they just gave me painkillers that did nothing. eventually an osteopath sorted it out. wow, it’s so exciting! my family have a similar reaction when we mention the possibility of moving to canada… we’re 100 miles from them now, and don’t see them that much, but they still don’t like the idea. ben’s family, however…

… are really supportive. i guess the issue is that they want to be able to see their grandchildren (when they come along!) more often than if we were 5000 miles away…. keep us updated with the move. BC is wonderful! xx

just spent some time looking up Abbotsford on the net – it looks lovely! nost of BC is so expensive, especially if you want to live near a city/town for work, but Abbotsford looks relatively reasonable – no vancouver prices, anyway! you can’t fly direct there from the UK, but i guess being only 75km fron vancouver it’s not too much of a problem. maybe we’ll both end up living there! xx
