Why won’t you let me drug my child???

You probably know that infant cold medicines were all recalled… I’m sure the FDA knows better than me and I’m sure they’re right in saying that the infant cold medicines weren’t good for babies… I -understand- that some parents were too stupid to read directions or call a doctor for proper dosing, but I’m not one of those parents! GIVE ME BACK MY DRUGS!

Makenzie has a cold and she is so miserable and there’s NOTHING I can do for her that really helps. Don’t get me wrong, I always do all the normal things- Saline nose spray, humidifier, steamy bathroom, bundle her and take her outside when it’s cold, etc… But these things only do so much… and that is not enough. GIVE ME BACK MY DRUGS!

I don’t like giving my kids medicines. I only resort to it when they are truly miserable, just like I rarely ever take anything for myself. But there are times when I believe medicines are needed. I don’t even care if the doctor gives me a sugar pill and makes me THINK I’m doing something to help my kid… I can’t just stand idly by and do nothing!

Anyway… I’m trying a homeopathic medicine now. (Take THAT FDA!) I wanted to try Hylands cold tablets because I love their teething tablets and their colic tablets, but I couldn’t find any of those, so I gave Makenzie some NatraBio Children’s cold and flu relief. She’s had two doses and seems a little less congested already. (For the first doses you give her a dose every twenty minutes and after that it’s every four hours). Anyway, wish me luck and I’ll let you know how it works so that you other moms of babies might have something to use when your kids get sick, too!
