Busy Days, Boring Days
The past two days have been simultaneously incredibly busy, and incredibly boring and uneventful.
M and I have spent a lot of time on the phone with various businesses and agencies. We’ve been reaching out to moving companies to get quotes. So far, only three of them have gotten back to us. One of them said that they needed more information and specifics about everything we are moving, which we provided to them. They haven’t responded yet. Another one said that it would be a two-day move, which I don’t know if I’m for. I don’t like the idea of my entire life being stuck on a truck in a warehouse or parking lot overnight. The last one was the most straightforward, and I think they will be the one we use. M said that she would call them tomorrow to hopefully firm things up.
M took the boys to Home Depot today so that she could get stain for the cabinets. The boys picked out themes for their new bedrooms and paints to match. L picked navy blue paint and will have a Grogu/Mando room; A picked light olive green for a Minecraft room.
We bought a futon. It’s going to eventually live in the basement, but will serve as our primary couch until the floors get done. It looks to be about a million times better than the one I had in college.
We got our flooring quote. I doubt that it will get done before school starts. The guy who did our measurements wasn’t sure if the gas oven had a shutoff valve, which would add both time and money to this whole project.
I have done the lions share of packing these past two days, while M ran interference with the boys. Most of it is done, but it feels like there is so much to do.
I took a little time before supper tonight to make a cherry crisp. It was awesome.
L had his first real time of sadness about leaving the other night. He came out of his bedroom just crying uncontrollably about an hour after bedtime over the whole move. He is really sad about leaving his friends. it kind of broke my heart a little bit, because I feel like I am primarily responsible for this whole thing. I really was the one who pushed M to find another job closer to our families.
We are heading down to the new house to paint on Thursday. It will be a very busy and tough couple of days, I think.
Tomorrow is our anniversary. I came up with the BEST card I’ve ever created. The card I made has a cartoonish woman making an orgasm face with the text “I hope this makes you more horny than you’ve been in years,” because she’s getting an English horn. I know, it’s super corny. I think she’ll get a kick out of it, though.
Might not have much time for writing the next few days. Things around here are going to get pretty insane for the next 8-10 days.
Making a cherry crisp? Buying an English horn as a gift? Making a pun about it on a birthday card? You, sir, are awesome.
Good luck on all the movage. I know that shit is so fucking stressful….BUT…in a few months, you’ll be settled, in a routine, loving life and this will be a distant memory. (These are things I often tell myself to get through stressful times.)
@thecriticsdarling Thanks!
The card and horn did go over very well with M, but not as well as that cherry crisp. That thing was amazing! It’s cherry season up here right now, and they are just perfect, and very, very cheap (about a dollar a pound).
