Pizza party? 🍕 naahhhh, we got hotdogs instead🌭
The place I work for is a cannabis manufacturing company. And you would think that would be fun and amazing and whatever else dreamers dream of. But alas that is not the case for me and the company I work for.
I wanted to help people. I wanted to make SOME kind of difference and it was not met with good vibes from my ex either. But I believed in it.
My late grandfather partook to ease pains without sickness where modern medicine left him endlessly sick. He had cancer. In his final days he said he was miserable from the pain, but I remember him saying that the cannabis helped make him a bit more comfortable. The one time I smoked with him was pretty sureal. And my dad and I celebrated his life with the remaining joints he had in his main toolbox. (Here’s to you.. a truly amazing man)
And my father also partook. As a retired military man, in a loveless relationship and in join pain from old age and disregarded Lyme. He asked me to get him stoned and the way that it eased his chronic joint pain without modern medicine, which he was fully against because of the tacklebox of medications his mother had to take. (Pills, for pills, for other pills) It helps him sleep, and it makes the pain manageable for him.
My uncle now. He’s gone in and out of the hospital for a few things. He is a Texan redneck and drank like he was paid to. So a lot of organ failures and dialysis. But he’s been up and down for years now. The man is tired. He recently signed a dnr because he’s basically playing a waiting game at this point. But also partakes in thc to help with pain management and overall feeling of euphoria to boot. My grandmother would take regular deliveries to Texas from Massachusetts just to help make him more comfortable.
And so it’s clear to see why I’d want to get into the industry and help others. But I chose the worst of them. And I guess that’s just my luck but it is what it is.
At first I didn’t leave mainly because of my head telling me “well you can’t just quit without a different job first” and then I was offered a promotion and raise. So I stayed and some problems improved but others worsened. But now I couldn’t find any worthwhile jobs that would pay me the same or more. And at the time I needed to pay so much to my ex, that I couldn’t afford a pay cut. I was already being accused of not pulling enough weight. So I kept looking and I had no luck finding anything that would fit. And then my world took a little dive when ex broke it off. And I decided that I needed to refocus on the important things in my life. Family was so very important to me and I thought I had fucked up. (I didn’t, but that’s a different story)
So I focused less about leaving and worked hard, kept to myself, and they thanked me by demoting me and cutting my pay, because budget cuts. But at least I wasn’t fired, so I didn’t complain much, (just dont ask my co-workers 😅) but they still had me doing lead work when I wasn’t a lead, and even coworkers were still coming to me as tho I was a lead. And I still couldn’t leave because a better job wasn’t there, but I needed to find a new place to live and that meant looking “stable” so I was really just stuck.
….I’m sorry, you must be wondering about the title tho. 😅
I am still here at the same company and the moral is at an all time low. They did pizza parties every month, sometimes more, sometimes less, and people were fed up with it. Rightfully so when the facility next door had showers and a pool table for thier staff. And they get samples every month. And the staff and product (the literal entire point of our operations) seem to be actually cared for. So many employees have simply gone next door. I guess hr caught wind of it, finally, after being physically told to his face several times by many employees.
“We wanted to do something different for a change instead of the same pizza every time, so we’re going to try and do a new thing every month. This month we’re gonna do hotdogs, and next month maybe hamburgers!”
And I’m not a quiet person so I ask, “so are you going to ask employees about dietary, religious or otherwise restrictions?” And in front of my whole department plus a few extras, I was assured an email would be sent out and managers would ask.
But low and behold! The geniuses in the hr offices were like ! You know what we could do instead of getting some veggie and kosher dogs, perhaps a salad.. let’s also make it.. a pot luck!
And btw! It’s worth mentioning that I brought up and suggested a pot luck when we were told several months back that each department would have food parties once a month. (We only did the one 🤦♀️) and the director saw the energy and was impressed how happy we all looked and joined in our pot luck. So I wonder where they got the clever idea from?
And so they made a beautiful sign with all of the time they don’t have to focus on real issues within the facility. Great. But they also rented an ice cream truck, so that was good. Had to make the efforts look good because they “want the facility to feel more together”
And that’s exactly why they thought a softball team against departments would also be a good move. That way we can take our pent up aggressions out on each other, outside of work. 😆
And I’m here to say that they did provide sodas and chips with the hotdogs, and even had then cooked and ready for everyone so the wait time wasn’t bad. (A tremendous surprise) someone in packaging made pasta salad. And someone from my department made beans with smoked sausage. I loved the bean dish. And it was the only thing I had. Because I beelined it for my car and didn’t hang out with the rest of the facility 😂
But it was more fun in my car anyway with my work bestie and then we had a surprise guest litteraly just hop into the backseat unannounced, scaring my friend and I! 🤣 we had our own party in that moment.🎉
Also I put dicks on my friends car and it was a huge hit with not only my friend and myself, but also a few other coworkers.
The one thing I like is the people I work with.
Anyway, pizza parties are a thing of the past and I’m waiting for them to hold a cringy adult prom night 😂

Guuurl the dicks were great car parties are always the best….srry to hear about your grandfather….but your right this place need a massive reset so I’m hoping these HR one on one meeting are actually going to help improve moral and the company in general but I guess we will wait and see ✌️❤️
