Keeping constant
It’s funny how for all the focus there is on change – of working towards that perfect job, perfect relationship, perfect moment… when you finally get there, all you can do is try to hold onto that perfect moment of time, grasping tightly in vain as it slips through your fingers.
I actually came back to add the poem below… I was listening to this song right after posting the above.. and it helped me write the below. I recommend that you read the below with this song playing too:

Keeping Constant
Sometimes you
hunt for that perfect moment of happiness
Crystalised.
You revel in its glow and the sweet embrace
Carefree love that makes everything seem
possible
That’s how I felt
when I met you
Sometimes you
build a castle that’s perfect
After time and time again of
trying.
Only for a wave to sweep in and wash it
away
That’s how it feels
trying to hold on to you
And now you
search high and
low
for that sweet taste of perfection
The thirst that much more urgent
Now that you know what you have
lost
That’s how it feels
knowing I won’t give up on you
That’s when you realise
Perfect moments will
slip
through your fingers like sand
and that’s it pointless to try to freeze
time
People will change
Seasons will change
Moments won’t last, but
It’s ok.
Don’t worry about holding on
You have found the spring of happiness
Savor each short sip
For each will taste a little different
But there will still be the next
Which will be just as perfect
Just a little
different
That’s how it feels
realising I’ll always have you
and you’ll always have
me
