אני קושית יפה/I’m a Cute Black Girl Pg 67
And boy did I have high hopes for my baking abilities. A few days ago I decided that I was not going to offer oily fried foods but instead was going to bake my Chanukah Treats.
Well I need to add my filling into my Sufganiyot and I need to dress them up still but right now they don’t look so enticing…. They are hard as rock and I am unable to fill them… so that is no!
I have filled the cupcakes too much but I guess this is a lesson learnt and I won’t make the same mistake with my next batch should I make some more….
I didn’t make more.
But I did attempt to make chocolate dreidels… yeah that didn’t work out. Chocolate melted to quickly and started burning so besides the 3 marshmallows that I have dipped into the chocolate the rest will just be as they are with a pretzel stick sticking out of it…
And now I am all packed for tonight. Got my…

Chanukah Candles and Chanukiah
on Wednesday I bought a disposable Chanukiah from an Ultra Orthodox Synagogue and I was a lil annoyed.
That is what I bought but it isn’t a Menorah. A Menorah is a Jewish Embelem with 8 branches for candles. Whereas a Chanukiah is a candle stick holder with 9 branches, and it is only lit on Chanukah.
I was further annoyed that when I was exiting, I met up with 4 frum young men and they expected me to hold the gate open for them. Well for the one, the others let the lady, ME, pass through before they did. After this happened, I was immediately transported to what Julia Hart experienced when she was growing up in Monsey. It is all very well to believe fully into your chosen religion and to follow all the rituals and traditions, but I do think it becomes questionable and wrong when it makes you behave in such a manner that you degrade and condemn another group. Paraphrasing here…. the fundamentals do tend to take things a lil too far. I mean Muslims believing that by killing those that don’t believe and practice what they do will bless them in the afterlife where they will be given many wives. The Jews that believe that only learning the Torah is the right thing to do and women should not be given any rights and should remain in the kitchen and only have kids, I suppose Muslims believe that too. And then both religions condemn homosexuals. I love being Jewish and learning more about Judaism but there does come a point where I don’t feel some things are right and I refuse to take them on. Suppose that is why I am so happy that I have gone the Progressive Route.
So, the Chanukah gathering was really wonderful. It was so wonderful being with everyone and socializing and laughing and joking and dancing and the RAVES I got about my cupcakes was so uplifting. Everyone loved them, can’t wait to make them again and obviously eat them and not just the batter.
I friend got me a gift and I cannot wait to dive into it…
