If He Didn’t Cost So Much…

If my endocrinologist didn’t cost so much I swear I would make appointments to see him regularly. It as been a while since I have sat with a doc and just joked about pretty much everything, and felt so at ease.

Nothing that I don’t know…so the doc asked me if I have ever tried to loose weight and what happened. I explained I have but put it back on again and blah blah blah…he told me that my genetics are the problem, after asking me why I thought diets worked for other people. He went on to explain that my body make up doesn’t allow me to loose weight and so he has put me on Saxenda.

I am not thrilled with the idea of having to inject myself every night, but hey if it will help me loose enough weight to get me ready for the op then I am all for it.

Just read up on this  and after reading the Possible Side Effects I am a lil peeved. I asked the doc what the side effects are, and he just said nausea, hence why I will take my shot at night. I just read up the Possible Side Effects and Depression or Thoughts of Suicide are possible too…

What are the possible side effects of Saxenda^®?

Saxenda^® may cause serious side effects, including:

• inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). Stop using Saxenda^® and call your healthcare provider right away if you have severe pain in your stomach area (abdomen) that will not go away, with or without vomiting. You may feel the pain from your stomach area (abdomen) to your back
• gallbladder problems. Saxenda^® may cause gallbladder problems, including gallstones. Some gallbladder problems need surgery. Call your health care provider if you have any of the following symptoms: pain in your upper stomach (abdomen), fever, yellowing of your skin or eyes (jaundice), or clay-colored stools
• increased risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in adults with type 2 diabetes who also take medicines to treat type 2 diabetes such as sulfonylureas or insulin
• risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in children who are 12 years of age and older without type 2 diabetes
• Signs and symptoms of low blood sugar may include: shakiness, sweating, headache, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, confusion, irritability, hunger, fast heartbeat, and feeling jittery. You should check your blood sugar before you start taking Saxenda^® and while you take Saxenda^®
• increased heart rate. Saxenda^® can increase your heart rate while you are at rest. Your health care provider should check your heart rate while you take Saxenda^®. Tell your health care professional if you feel your heart racing or pounding in your chest and it lasts for several minutes
• kidney problems (kidney failure). Saxenda^® may cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea leading to loss of fluids (dehydration). Dehydration may cause kidney failure, which can lead to the need for dialysis. This can happen in people who have never had kidney problems before. Drinking plenty of fluids may reduce your chance of dehydration. Call your health care provider right away if you have nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea that does not go away, or if you cannot drink liquids by mouth
• serious allergic reactions. Stop using Saxenda^® and get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction including swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, fainting or feeling dizzy, very rapid heartbeat, problems breathing or swallowing, or severe rash or itching
• depression or thoughts of suicide. You should pay attention to any mental changes, especially sudden changes, in your mood, behaviors, thoughts, or feelings. Call your health care provider right away if you have any mental changes that are new, worse, or worry you

The most common side effects of Saxenda^® in adults include nausea, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, injection site reaction, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), headache, tiredness (fatigue), dizziness, stomach pain, and change in enzyme (lipase) levels in your blood. Additional common side effects in children are fever and gastroenteritis.

I am thinking about calling up my Psychiatrist and asking her what she thinks. But I really want to loose weight and have this op. The doc is going to be writing up a motivational letter for me to give to my Medical Aid.

While talking to the doc, he asked me about kids. Now I told him that I would love to have kids, but am not planning on falling pregnant any time before December next year. He asked why that date, and I told him because I know I cannot fall pregnant for a year after the op and if all goes well I will be having the op next month. He laughed at my joke. But he did tell me that 2 patients of his that had the op have fallen pregnant, and thankfully all is going well for them, but it is a danger since my body is having to adopt a lot already etc.

Wow! I cannot believe it that everything is happening and proceeding so well. I am so ready to have this op. I often wonder how will my relationship change once I have lost a lot of weight. How will my husband feel or behave, would I get lots of attention from the opposite sex and if I do how would my husband react. I often feel that the bad things in my marriage, because of my husband; he allows to happen because he knows that I won’t walk away from him so he tests me. He will drink, neglect the house, not make an effort to look good, keep us in our own bubble…look I know he loves me and through small actions he does show that…I dunno…I just wonder how our relationship would change. My sister and her husband got divorced a few years after she had the operation. I wonder if the operation is a reason for the divorce because she is now dating a guy that had the op.

I don’t want this op to result in the end of my marriage, but I do hope that it brings good effects to it. Like my husband values us more, values himself more, works more for us and our relationship.

Just had a thought…maybe I am settling with my marriage because I am fat and don’t think I deserve more…
