Day 2 single dad

Up early eggs, bacon, and milk. Chance did not want to get out of bed. Hope is not a daily thing. I was always gone by the time that boy had to get up. It’s funny how much more parenting one parent does than the other no matter how much you think it’s equal. I still can’t wrap my head around how she could get up one morning and say I’m done being a mom and wife. Then just pack and leave with just a note that says to many places I want to see and things I want to do. No warning, no saying a word to her son.
Chance: Dad I like over easy these are scrambled.
Me: I can try, not sure how to make over easy
Chance: I’m good you can ask someone how to cook them
Me: are you can learn
Chance: Na I’m good
Me: teeth, hair dress, and make your bed, do you know where your shoes are this morning
Chance: My room I think
Me: New rule when you come in shoe off and put in your room
Chance: I do
Me: both shoes, not one in your room and one god knows where
Chance: Mom says in the mud room
Me: do you do that
Chance if it’s muddy, she doesn’t grip at me about it.
First issue, not sure how to deal with that. I want to say well mom isn’t here anymore so do what I said. But know that’s not the best way
Me: just take them off at the same time so you’re not missing one
Chance: it was funny why does it matter?
It set him off, he unloaded on me and went to his room. I really don’t think it was about the shoes. I let it go for now. About 10mins later
Chance: Dad, I’m gone the bus is here have a good one make a lot of hay love me later
And out the door, he went before I could say a word. By the time I got to the door, he was out of sight. One thing about working for me and being on a tractor all-day you have time to think not sure it’s good are bad. Wish he came with an operator’s Manual.
