05/02/2010**Update on Boo

giveaway of the day

So, last week Boo got sick. I believe it was Wednesday night – I think she may have caught some bug at the Tuesday night birthday party. She woke at 2am Thursday morning throwing up, and did that until 3am. We’ve kept her in/quiet since then, except we thought she was feeling better, and went out yesterday afternoon. She did well, excepting toward the end of the day. Lately, she’s had bad reactions to the pollen in the air, and we’re noticing her having breathing problems when she’s upset/anxious. I’m going to have her tested for asthma this week, and I intend to get the appointment ASAP – she’s really scared by the trouble she has breathing, and she’s STILL Having stomach cramps/pains too, so…I think she’s got some virus that’s taking it’s time leaving. So far, Edwin & I are still healthy, thank goodness.

Saturday we did some yardwork, as it got very warm here in Southern New England – TOO warm for me, truth be told. Boo agrees – and today was warmer. In the 80’s!! Tomorrow is to be close to the same, but then it may get a little cooler, I hope. It’s very humid, too, and that’s hard on her breathing, too.

We’ve got progress in the Garden – check it out!

Pumpkins:

Edwin also did some maintenance on our Reel mower, so that once we get the sticks cleaned up out of the yard, he can mow.

I’m tired. 🙂 Mentally & Physically…still plugging along at the genealogy, and I need to find the time/energy to clean around the house.

I do love my family, I have to say – they’re very special. 🙂

**************UPDATE***************

Hi, folks. It’s now Monday morning, May 3 – Boo had an awful night, and so I called the Pediatrician and we got in at 10:30am this morning. Doc looked at her throat, and since it was red (but not sore) and Boo was complaining of nausea, the doc decided to test for strep just in case. Wouldn’t you know, the test came back positive – Boo has Strep Throat! This means she’ll be on antibiotics for the FIRST time in her life – and I’ve already picked up the probiotics, to make sure her tummy isn’t MORE upset by the cure than from the illness. Thanks for your kind thoughts, everyone. I’m told that she’ll be contagious until she’s been on the A/B for 24 hours, and I’m trying to arrange someone to sit with her tomorrow while I take Mom to two doctor’s appointments, AND while we go bowling tomorrow night. Mattie is checking her schedule for me, so we’ll see what we can do.

Also, Mom just called me – she’s too dizzy to move much, so I’ll do the Dialysis run this afternoon to get my brother. Boo will just sit in the car quietly with a mask on, and we’ll avoid contaminating my brother, I hope. Patricia, I have checked into that "Benign Positional Vertigo" you mentioned/linked to, and it sounds VERY much like what Mom’s suffering from. Today she said that she felt okay until she got up and then down off the ladder in the closet. The other day, she was fine until she got down on the floor to scrape some dried grout off of the tiles. Is leg weakness/double vision typical with this? I haven’t seen that listed. Anyway, we’ve got a referral to the Balance Center in Hartford, and they’re hopefully going to teach Mom the "Epley’s Maneuver" to help solve the problem. I keep praying we have a good ending to this particular issue!!

Boo’s situation sounds scary, Gonna for help from medical people? If I was able to get out and around, I would not like the heat and humidity. Be well, all of you.

Gentle hugs to Boo…and another for your mom! I hope Epley works for her. 🙂 Has she had any recent colds or infections lately?

May 3, 2010

Poor Boo! Strep is the WORST. 🙁

May 3, 2010

{{{Hugs}}} to you all — here’s hoping the antibiotics and probiotics have Boo feeling well in short order! And that your Mom feels better soon, too.Yay on the plants! They remind me of my community garden days.

May 3, 2010

hope she feels better soon.. the antibiotics usually make a big difference, fast. love the idea of planting right in the bags like you did, easier than all the digging I’ll be doing. lol

May 3, 2010

The anitbotics will help Boo feel better fast. My kids all had strep seems like every winter for years when they were still in school. Have her eat yogurt too, that helps with the tummy upset. Hope you can find a solution for your mom. She has my thoughts and prayers.
