Those tests that Mom had two weeks ago? Hard to believe it was already two weeks, but…They ALL came back clear! Those of you who follow me on Facebook have already heard this, so forgive the repeition: Bone Scan = Clean. MRI of head = Clean. CAT Scan of abdomen = Clean. PET Scan = Clean other than the aforementioned spot of lung cancer. This is SUCH good news, I can’t stop being happy about it!!
We saw Mom’s Pulmonologist last Tuesday to discuss the tests, and formulate a plan to deal with the Squamous Cell Cancer. He is an amazing guy, and I see why Mom loves him. 🙂 I was pushing her in a wheelchair because the hospital (where his office is) is a LARGE place to walk around for someone who HAS no issues – and he saw us coming. He didn’t know about her broken nose/bones, so when he saw us, he threw up his hands and said, "What in the Sam Hill happened to YOU?" …Mom lifted her cane & poked him in the stomach – and the two of them busted out laughing. Then when he was telling us of the test results, he was very serious, looking at the papers…."Well, We have the MRI and it shows positively that you do have a Brain…" – completely straight face. Love him! Mom & I read through the hospital report from Not-Our-Home-Hospital where the cancer was found, and we got our pens out and corrected ALL SORTS of awful mistakes – we are going to call them and make sure the MAIN record is corrected as well.
Mom’s not allowed to drink through a straw, due to the two fractures in her upper jaw – but she’s doing very well otherwise. Her bruises are fading, and we have doctor appointments lined up to follow up with all sorts of related stuff: Dentures, Eye Doctor, OMFS (Oral Maxillo Facial Surgery). Oh, I don’t have an appointment with OMFS yet, they haven’t called me back. Got to bug them first thing Monday morning.
The weather here has been BITTER cold, aside from two oddly warm (mid-50’s F) days last week. Today we had Windchill warnings (below -15), no fun. We still went out to Boo’s Bowling league, and I ran errands. I’m trying to catch up on bills – pay the mortgage, avoid the cable being turned off, etc. Every time I think about getting another job, something happens that eats up all my time. I am thinking, again, about knitting things to sell on etsy…maybe Market bags for supermarket trips – or quick & easy fingerless mitts – scarves with sparkly yarn, maybe hats again? Dishcloths? Any suggestions?
We’re still overnighting at Mom’s. This will most likely continue until maybe Tuesday – and then we’ll still be here most of the day into the evening, but if she can handle getting in and out of bed with just my Brother here, she’ll be happier. We’ve been sleeping in the Great room, where she’s got a comfy recliner. I’m kind of torn – her therapists think she’s doing better, as do I – and they want her to move around more. I think she can, and I am just a bit nervous about leaving her alone at night yet. Maybe this weekend? I want to spend a few nights at home with Edwin before he heads off on a work trip – to Nashville, TN for about 4 days. I will be spending nights at home then, to make sure my critters are okay. Such odd decisions I need to make – and I haven’t been on my meds for about 3 days, as I’ve run out – and I need the money to pay the mortgage, Electric, cable & water, not to mention $$ for Edwin to buy groceries for "our" house.
It’s hard to have Faith at times like this, but the alternative is unworkable.
Great to hear about your mom’s clean tests!

I’m glad your mom’s doing better 🙂 The doctor sounds like a hoot! Please do get your meds…I know bills are important, but your mental health is important too, especially with everything that’s been going on lately.. *hugs*

That’s just insanity. Having to choose between groceries and prescriptions. Unfortunately I know too many people who have to do it. I’m glad your mom is doing well. I know a lot of it is her own determination but I know, too, that it’s due to the kind of loving care you give her. You’re all in my thoughts.

ryn: I believe it’s because some see Imbolc as being on the 2nd regardless…and some see it as being to do with where the moon is at, which would change it by a day or two. A few of the holidays are like that. For us…we haven’t bought our new witches calendar so we were just going off what it “normally” is! lol
