Progress of one sort or another?

Scott is still on campus tonight.  It’s going to be one of those weeks.

I used to be so filled with shame that he still has the dissertation hanging over his head.  The mortification I felt when I had to tell other people he still wasn’t done — that was every kind of real.  But I also needed to express myself to those precious few people that I was willing to let in.

Now I don’t really feel that embarrasment anymore.  Whatever.  It’s still weird to be in school at 42, sure.  Yes.  Definitely.  But it is what it is, and other people’s ideas say far more about other people than it does about us.

So, even if he’s on campus (still) (still – still.) at least I can talk about it?

People go to college at any age in life for career change or for whatever reason. People may extend the time they are in school. I don’t think it’s a big deal as it seems though. Life happens and ever one has a different time line in which they may do things. If others are judgemental towards that, then don’t let it get to you

I didn’t finish my undergraduate until age 58 or thereabout. I started in 1971! Got my Masters at age 65.

Being a lifelong learner is a good, admirable thing. At least, that’s what I tell myself!
