hobbies of the mind kind
Had dinner at friends’ house tonight. It was nice just getting out and talking to someone else for a change. Funny listening to other peoples’ stories. I’ve missed that. I didn’t do much talking. I generally just ask questions and listen. Most people like to talk about themselves or their experiences. And I’m okay with that. I’m a lazy individual, even when it comes to talking about myself. I was asked if I had any hobbies. I really don’t. I’ve tried to do a variety of things over the years but nothing captured my interest. My spouse mentioned I used to do stained glass and I quietly reminded him I stopped doing that when I didn’t have a place to work on it. He made a face because he knew I was forced into the garage and then my small workspace was taken over by his stuff. But he doesn’t like it when something is mentioned that doesn’t make him look good (in his mind). Are you supposed to have hobbies when you retire? Is reading a hobby? Gardening might be considered a hobby. Evasive mental tactics is a hobby. How to disarm your spouse’s petty anger without him knowing. That’s a hobby.
Reading and gardening are most definitely a hobby. Although I have to say I enjoyed the others you mentioned after that! Had a good giggle. You have the most fascinating way of phrasing things and your sense of humor tickles me.

Of course reading and gardening are hobbies :-). I have a lot of hobbies that I’ve enjoyed at one time or another but lately I’ve lost interest in it all…even reading and that makes me sad. I think part of the problem with reading is that I don’t see up close as well as I use to so it makes it hard to read on my phone.
